I hope in the next 12-18 months Marcus North and Mike Hussey get an opportunity to have a run in the side (ODIs) and potentially establish themselves.

In all honesty I see North getting into the ODI side before Tests as I think he is a good player in One Day matches. He will come into contention for Tests (whether he plays or not) when he puts consistent back to back seasons.

Then there is Dave Hussey of Victoria...

i dont know if u remember his unbeaten 84 against the NZ in the tvs cup when australia were 4/61 on a pitch that was doing quite a bit. he ended up having the highest average in that series with 78. this was only 2 series ago before he suffered that injury in the vb series and struggled for form after that. its amazing how we forget such recent performances so easily
1 performance in the since the world cup.... not that great is it...

You've brought this up a thousand times, and each time you've failed to think it through.

It's a nice plan, but how do you pick them when there are no places avaliable in the side?

How many times have you ever seen me praise North, Mike Hussey?

How many times I have you seen me push for their inclusions?

A 1000 times? You have no idea.

Why do you think he'd been dropped down to number 7 in the first place? He wasnt performing like hes been known to, so they move him down for people who are.
And Martyn's got nothing to do with it. He had a shocker of a VB series, sure, but he had a killer 2003. Why do people keep bringing him up?!

I think they'll just have to play in the 'A' team for this year at least. If they both do anything like they did last year, theyre in with a definate chance. Northy is so young and talented. Huss, just talented hehe.
Provided injury doesnt occur within the Aussie team that is. Or with them.

Because Martyn is like Bevan in that people know he is good enough to be in the team even if he isn't performing to his full potential currently. Martyn stays in but Bevan doesn't.

Martyn has regained his form so it was justified but why hasn't Bevan got the chance?

Might be something to age? I'm not very knowledgable on this topic so I might be missing something.

PS : Bevan has averaged 47 with the bat since the start of the WC which is basically a calendar year.

As an Englishman, I can testify that he didn't have a shocking WC.

Along with Bichel (granted, it was large Bichel contribution), he won the game against us for Australia. To my short and slightly failing memory, it was one of the best OD innings I have seen.

Plus two fifties in five innings.

Ah right, apologies....I seem to remember you saying that you were Indian but followed England a bit. Must be imagining things. :).

No matter, I'm still mentally scarred by that innings, was the only game of the World Cup which I watched.

To be honest, I was glad Bevan was dropped becasue of where he was going (ie. nowhere). I dont think he properly deserved it, however there are so many young up-and-comers that are just killing themselves trying to get a place, so old Bevo doesnt stand a chance.
I remember back when I wasnt interested in cricket, and I was watching with my brother one day and I was probably about 12 or so. All I remember is my brother and I being so impressed with how fast Bevan ran.. makes me nostalgic.
But you cant run fast forever.

Exactly as you have done. :).

I was impressed by his allround ability (kind of along the same lines as Sobers but not nearly on same scale) as when I first started watching Bevan, he was a tidy bowler, an awesome fielder and truly world-class OD batsman.

Martyn is the consistent man in the side, for me first name on the team sheet for a middle order spot (of course not including the skipper)
