Bevan's international career is over?

Yay! No more miracle innings like that bastard century he got in Melbourne against NZ. I don't really like him but thats me.

I would have thought he had plenty to offer Australia. At the World Cup last year he played some match winning knocks. Was he **** during the VB series?

The selectors IMHO were right to drop Bevan, but they've done it for the wrong reason. The Aussies are trying to get by in ODIs with two-three strike bowlers and a succession of faux-rounders and honest trundlers (Symonds, Lehmann, Clarke, Watson, etc.) and Bevan doesn't fit in due to his shoulder problems. They've tried to ease him out by batting him 7 and therefore claiming he's holding an all-rounder out. Plus Clarke et al can at least get aggressive when required, something Bevan has forgotten how to do.

Yes, I remember "that bastard century". 6/82 at one stage. Ahhh - I love seeing the Kiwis lose from a winning position.

His form was poor during the VB series, but they had him batting at 6 and 7, which he is not suited to.

Hey Benny r! Where was that South Sydney avatar when the bunnies were losing?

You South Sydney fans are strange ones. You campaign to get your team back in the comp, then you don't turn up to games. Then you only support your team when they are winning.

Will you still have that avatar when the honeymoon for season 2004 is over?

Amazing stuff from the aussies... jeesus id rather have Bevan coming in to win me a tight game than Clarke.....

It sounds like they are bored of dominating the world and want to try some new ideas... amazing....

Saying that, his replacement will probably do just as well eventually, such is the depth of talent...
Actually now is the best time to do when you are on top. What happened to the West Indies once their big names retired should be served as a lesson to all...

Fair call, Mr Wright - it has appeared after two straight wins.

In my defence I will say that I wear Souths T-shirts around about half of the time and I have followed them my entire life, I go to games (not as many as I'd like, but I do go) and I'm a paid up member of the football club.

The Avatar may change if one of my other obsessions pops itself up in a nice compact image, but the support will not waver.

Fair enough I guess. Support comes from the heart, not your actions.

At least with Souths winning, it leaves Manly to suffer on the bottom of the table.

If part of the talk comming out of Kent is true, about who might replace Symo if selected, Rich would like to thank the chaps at the ACB for their actions ;) :D

Now just need them to do the same for Blewy and India to have a change of heart and drop VVS Laxman for a few months :D
:P:P:P:P:P

Whereas Essex won't need any replacements.

We have 2 overseas players that are better than yours, and they're here to stay, no naffy international tournaments. :P:P

Bevan hasn't done much for ages, sure hes been ok, but his fielding has dropped right off, and his batting, but his standards has been crap most of the time...

I'm going to miss the feeling of Australia being 3/40, chasing 250 on a slow pitch, and knowing that we still have Bevan in the order giving us some hope. He undoubtedly is a BIG game player which Australia haven't really needed over the past few sesasons, such is our domination of World Cricket. I think we shulda kept him there, if the going ever got tough (which it rarely does these days) Bevan's the man we want.

There certainly is going to be a different feel to the Australian cricket team without Bevan in the side...

He definately is the most under rated player in Australia, the guy didn't play anywhere near enough tests. He ruled First class and OD international cricket, and only played a handful of tests. Go Figure.

Probably also had something to do with the fact that he did his shoulder, and couldn't bowl anymore, similar to the reason that has been branded round here as to why he was dropped for the ODI's...

absolutely but the problem was that he was being wasted(for reasons unknown) at no 6 and 7. for me bevan was an ideal no 4 who should have batted at no 4 because of his ability to find gaps in the middle overs when runs are often so hard to come by.

australia certainly dont know how much hes worth to the side. the number of dead flat wickets have certainly given them a false indication of his abilities and has ruined his career because bevan was ideal to those 230-240 wickets. they wont realise how valuable he was until they are 120/5 chasing 230 against SA with andrew symonds coming into bat.

i dont know if u remember his unbeaten 84 against the NZ in the tvs cup when australia were 4/61 on a pitch that was doing quite a bit. he ended up having the highest average in that series with 78. this was only 2 series ago before he suffered that injury in the vb series and struggled for form after that. its amazing how we forget such recent performances so easily

Yay, bunnies rule (we went through all this last year, I believe - I only supported them because I like rabbits).

And obviously you haven't realized that Symonds won't be coming in to bat at 7.. probably ever again.
