Hadlee was a lone warrior
Not only was Hadlee was a lone warrior but he also had longevity. Hadlee also had the additional burden of being a lower order batsman.

Marshall became a regular in 1983 and retired in 1991.
Hadlee became a regular in 1976 and retired in 1990.

Very close on primary, but Sachin and Hadlee a smidge ahead. Sachin clearly ahead, and the bowlers are very close.

Overall, Sobers obliterates Sachin. Hadlee isn't that far ahead of Marshall.
Two years ago Sobers was ranked ahead of Sachin as batsmen alone. I don't think there's much between them at all. The only advantage I give Sachin is batting mostly at 4 compared to Sobers moving down the order the more he bowled.

Sachin clearly ahead of Sobers doesn't make sense, nobody in this tier is clearly ahead of anyone else.
Thank you.

Sobers too has been taking a hit on his batting of late. Should listen to guys like Trueman, Davidson and Lillee and how they spoke of him. He was no less a genius.

Becuse he could catch like Waugh and bowl 3 different ways doesn't take away from that.

Yet they practically payed the same amount of matches.

Batting position, home featherbeads with a relatively underwhelming away record, and playing a disproportionate proportion of career against B tier teams.

1. Played against 2 good teams and 3 B-Tier teams

2. The record against NZ is poor despite having a significant sample size of 12 Tests

Still Top 5 batsman for me
