NZ strongest Top 7 recently played

1.Conway
2.Latham
3.Williamson
4.Ravindra
5.Mitchell
6.Phillips
7.Blundell

Bro be honest how many SA batters are getting into this side ? Bedingham only because you can't play Bavuma as opener and NZ's 3, 4, 5 & 7 are locks compared to SA
Philips is sometimes a class 5th bowler though. Would honestly believe split over him and Bedingham.

Markram ain't better than Conway ..Markram is a home track bully he averages 22 away from home and Ravindra probably has a higher ceiling than Bedingham whose 30 ..

Jansen at no.7 I think isn't feasible , you'd have to play an all rounder like Phillips .

I'd rather go with this so called home track bully on pitches where par score is 150-220. He averages 43.5 at home in the most hostile of conditions and that too as an opener. He's not even 30 yet. His Cape Town hundred this year was crazy. Teams were getting bundled for single digits in the shortest test match of all time, yet he scored a hundred and looked at ease.

Conway is possibly past his best now anyway, given his age and form. He was picked in his peak so his stats were inflated earlier. His career avg has fallen to 41 and sinking fast. He has played a total of 20 tests in his career and in the last 9 tests, his average is just 27. He hasn't done anything in the last 2 years. He couldn't score against that atrocious SA D side either. So he doesn't get in ahead of Markram anymore.

NZ bowling attack is woeful.

Jamieson is Mr unreliable when it comes to getting on the park and Southee while being good for years is well past it now.
Will O'Rourke looks like he could be decent but is far from proven just yet.
Henry is good but really it's a lacklustre attack at best. We never know what spinner to play and often rely on Phillips to produce the goods.

I think(and hope) we can be competitive against Sri Lanka but certainly wouldn't count on it.

After we get eaten to death 3-0 by India it should be quite obvious to all that we certainly aren't the 3rd best nation atm

New Zealand aren't better than SA. They had never won a series vs South Africa home or away.

Not to mention that NZ lost 2-0 at home to Australia, while only narrowly managing to draw 1-1 at home vs England, when they won the 2nd test by a run (however lost 3-0 away in Eng).
This has to be one of the strangest comments ever in a thread about which team is the best right now. The last time RSA won a series v NZ they had a grand total of three players who haven't yet retired.

Such a good opener he averages 43 in the most hostile conditions . . . but averages half that in the easier conditions. Something not adding up here

Australia’s always threatened to be no.1 during this period just based on the names and how strong the team feels like it would perform in a game tomorrow, but their results are pretty weak. Drawing at home to WI was disgraceful and they didn’t look amazing against Pakistan either tbh. The two India losses are a number of years ago now but largely the same personnel too.

Markram had an amazing series against Australia in the sandpaper series 6.5 years ago, but since then he's been terrible against decent attacks - only averages 11.6 v England, 18.25 v NZ, and 19.63 (despite that Cape Town 100) v India.

He's a worse test batsman than Henry Nicholls who can't even make the NZ squad now.

I think Markram is very overrated, billed as a generational 3 format cricketer for SA but falls far short of that ..
