Best ODI player never to have played Test cricket..

Furball

On top of that Morgan averages 39 in ODi's and 47 in T20i which is better than his county stats, just his test average isn't too flash.

RtD does have decent stats though, 47 in first class cricket and 46 in list A, he'd defo make our one day side imo.
His First Class and List A stats will be massively boosted by flogging minnows in the Intercontinental Cup and against fellow minnows in ODIs.

Those are RTD's.
Have you just counted his county stats and got rid of the associate teams?

Got to admit I keep forgetting that the international stats go towards all first class & List A cricket stats.

Such an overrated player on here. He's an average county player FFS.
Got pretty good first class stats tbf.

Edit: Sorry forgot that international cup games go towards his first class average.

RTD still has a pretty decent record. He would make most one-day sides in the world, and I'm quite certain we would have him playing for England if we could based on his county cricket.

Still agree with these. We could actually do with someone like him at the moment.

Yes, because I've often championed Morgan as a Test player.
Doesn't really matter who you championed. The debate was whether he'd have gotten a shot at ODI cricket. Its ridiculous to state that he wouldn't have got a look in at some point if he were English or qualified to play.

Actually no, I was debating him being named as the best ODI player to never playing a Test on the grounds that he is IMO an average county player.

Mid-30s batting average?
> Bopara.
That's hardly saying a lot. Ravi does average mid 40s in comparison to that mid 30 average though.
Read like you were saying he wouldn't make the England ODI team.

Of course he's not the best ODI player to not play a test, but I doubt more than one person thinks that. Howe_zat wasn't suggesting it.

So you agree he'd have played ODI cricket for England then?

Maybe, maybe not. If he were eligible he wouldn't have played those games for Holland and therefore his record would look a lot different and it certainly wouldn't be a record that would scream out for him to get a game so I would say on balance it wouldn't be likely that he would've got a look in in that scenario (equally Morgan probably wouldn't have done at this stage of his career if he hadn't played for Ireland)

Yep, that's actually quite a good point.

Agree with you there Marc. He would certainly make the England team if he was to be qualified English now imo, but would he have made the side if he had never played for Netherlands?
