Best ODI player never to have played Test cricket..

Clive Rice is obviously the first name on the list. At his peak, he could have made into most test sides with either bat or ball. Would be difficult to envisage any test team from that era (except West Indies) having two superior bowlers to take the new ball ahead of Rice.

I always thought that Martin Suji (Kenya) was a decent fast-medium bowler. Had a very appealing, repetitive, side-on action and could have used the red cherry well.

Trent Johnston (Ireland) and John Davison (Canada) are two more guys who could have been decent test players. Someone mentioned Ian Harvey and I don't quite agree. His style of bowling was over-reliant on batsmen making mistakes; he wouldn't have been able to prise out test batsmen, IMHO!

Lots of good names given here.

I vote for Ian Harvey too. It's funny to hear all those Aussies saying he was nothing special. Christ, if he'd been English we'd have built our one day team around him for a decade, and he would have played a fair amount of Test cricket too.

I agree on Harvey. He may not have lit the world on fire if he played tests, but he was surely worth a go.

Also agree with Hussey, Di Venuto and Maher.

Nannes, Noffke, Hopes, Siddons, even Shane Lee could have been useful as a test player.
