What's so important about it being the subcontinent?
It's not as if someone's really going to be effected by homesickness, is it? (Don't mention Harmison - his performances have NOT been affected, because it would be impossible for them to get worse)
What I think you mean, rather than the on the subcontinent, is on pitches not typical to the subcontinent, ie those offering seam-movement. And let me assure you, the wickets in the Sri-Aus series of 1999\2000 offered plenty of seam-movement!

That's complete crap. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you can say his performances have been that bad.

Away Average: 29.67

Overall Average: 29.63

Not greatly affected by my reckoning.

certainly doesnt explain why his record outside the subcontinent is nothing better than horrible. its not just coincidence that he seems to lose his form when he plays outside the sub continent...the fact is he has struggled with those conditions

Look, Pete, I would have thought you could recognise that most of Harmison's good figures have come agaisnt Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
Against decent teams he's only had an occasional good innings.

But when discussing performance, how is an average of below 30 bad and impossible to be worse than?

Because average is not what counts when discussing performance.
Performance is what counts. And just because a load of substandard batsmen played poor strokes against average deliveries, doesn't mean someone performed well.
Hence, fortunately, because one of these series was home, one away, it has not skewed this particular set of stats.
Anyway, it really doesn't matter - the fact is, I simply said his case doesn't have a place in this matter. And it doesn't.
