Whatever it takes!!!
After Dhoni's performance over the summer I'll say he's lucky to even be here

Yeah, coz no batsman ever has had a bad season...

King Viv in his last 3 years in ODIs...

38 Matches, 852 runs, Avg 29, SR 86, 4 50s, no 100s... Lucky to even be here, right?

Interesting, then Kohli can't be too far away either by your reckoning. :)

I think both of them still have some way to go.
AB is clearly > Kohli imo because he has played for longer with a much better SR and a higher average. Seriously.. he has a 100+ SR! I'm not sure people understand how insane that is for a batsman averaging ~55.

It is insane no doubt. I would rate him above Kohli on skill alone, I think most people would agree with that. Kohli is a more reliable matchwinner though.

Watson is an interesting one. I'd rate MWaugh higher as a pure batsman, but Watto shouldn't be overlooked as an ODI monster because of his test shortcomings (as I think he sometimes is).

In ODIs he had an average of 40 at a SR of 90, and that improved when he opened. In addition he was an ideal fifth bowler, who could take the pace off in the middle overs and bowling canny hard to hit swing.

As a whole package, Shane Watson should sit comfortably in the top ten of most valuable ODI cricketers of all time.

I agree with you that Watson deserves to sit in the top echelon of ODI cricketers, but I don't think he was ever much of a swing bowler. He bowled with a rather flat trajectory that was described once as being the "heavy ball" which was indeed as you mentioned, hard to hit.

Greenidge is now 2 ahead of Anwar, but Klusner and Inzie are tied.
