Battle of the Test Innings

Has to be Waugh, didn't see his knock but remember Lara's: he just steamrollered the South African bowling.

Extremely tough round. Hughes' innings is legendary, and it was against possibly the greatest bowling attack in test history, while Atherton's was one of the finest innings in recent years, and against a pretty capable attack as well.

I'll go for Hughes based on the fact that the test was won, and the opposition was so remarkable. Shame one of these two has to go out, though.

I'm personally amazed that Hughes is getting so few votes. Are we all aware that his ton was scored against Holding, Roberts, Garner and Croft?

Has to be Atherton for me. Hughes's was a great knock, no doubt, but it looks like Laird's & Border's 60s in the 2nd were just as crucial to the Oz win. Ath's is possibly the definitive rearguard innings of the last twenty years or so.
