Battle of the Test Innings

Weight of runs plus match result means it's Hanif for me. The circumstances were probably equally difficult in the two cases, and Tendulkar faced the better attack, but Gilchrist, Valentine and Sobers were no mugs, and to score a triple century against a pretty decent attack after following on is simply a remarkable achievement. Plus he drew the match for his side.

Sachin - Probably his best knock ever. The first India-Pakistan test in 9 years and there was immense expectation. He batted through more than half the innings on painkillers battling severe back pain and winced everytime he had to play a forcing shot. Saqlain was at his sublime best (20 wkts in 2 tests against India in India) and Wasim was bowling brilliantly as well.

Batting for 16 hours is a huge effort, so Mohammed for me.

Rumour has it his distant relative Dave gave him a few pointers.

Sachin. It's a travesty if his knock at Chennai doesn't go through.
Indeed. Tough draw for him, but I'll still go for Tendulkar.
