Battle of the Test Bowling

Yes Wasim's 11'fer was special.

Some more

Mudassar Nazar 6-34 vs Eng 1982
Imran 7-80 vs WI 1988
Qadir 6-16 vs WI 1986
Iqbal Qasim 7-49 vs Aus 1980
M.Zahid 7-66 vs NZL 1996

There are also countless 4'fers and 5'fers by Wasim and Waqar duing the 90's that were probably one of the best partnership bowling performances in test history.

I still think it may not work and I once again recommend starting battle of the test matches.

2nd that.

Anyone remember 9/83 by KapilDev or Srinath's 6/21 @ Ahmedabad or Srinath's 8/86 & 5/46 in Kolkata test Vs. Pakistan.

International 12th Man
Here's a few

Steve Harmison 7-12 ENGLAND vs west indies 2004
Glenn Mcgrath 8-24 AUSTRALIA vs india 2003
Anil Kumble 10-74 INDIA vs pakistan 2001
Matthew Hoggard 7-61 ENGLAND vs south africa 2004/05
Murali 8-53 SRI LANKA vs england 2006

I tend to agree. I think Kumble bowled better during the 2004 Pakistan tour. It was luck and Umpire Jayparkash (sp?) that got him several wickets during the tenner.

Here is a suggestion.
- Take the top 60 from the Wisden list
- Add 4 new ones from the cricket played in the 4-5 years since the Wisden list was made.
- Keep the rankings (ranking the newer ones 61 to 64 for conveniwnce
- Match them up the way seeds are matched up with 1 and 2 at opposite ends and facing numbers 64 and 63 respectively
- Play the six round knock out'

If 63 match ups this entails are too much, take 30 from the Wisden list and add two newer ones.

It might be a good idea to have a 'league' system at the last eight or last four stage to introduce a bit more of fairness and also to take away some of the nationalistic bias.

Sounds good, where is Spofforth's 7/44 & 7/46?

I think SS should do it, because his opinions didn't sway any votes and were interesting to read! Plus it means I'd be able to vote

A suggestion fro me, Flintoff 5-78 at The Oval 2005

I don't see the need to base it so heavily on the Wisden 100. In the other thread there were some innings in the top 50 of the Wisden list that didn't even make the final 64, which is fair enough, as we're trying to create our own list from the opinions of those on the site, and not just copy theirs.

Obviously though, the Wisden list is a good place to start.

Agreed. If we're going to use the Wisden list, why bother with a battle?

From the same match as I added before, Shane Warne's performance at The Oval last year was tremendous, in the face of Ashes defeat he kept going, dismissing batsman like there was no tomorrow

Beat me to it. For my money, that's the best performance by an England bowler I've witnessed, given the circumstances, the wicket, the opposition, plus, IIRC, most of the wickets were in the top half of the order.

Giving an opinion is swaying the votes? It's not as if SS is rigging the vote or anything and I highly doubt people changed their votes in the other thread because SS made a comment expressing his opinion...your point makes no logical sense.
