Pele, for the height reasons (I know Jordan was almost normal height, but he's still well over average height, so it takes out a massive amount of people who can compete). Football is the world sport too, I'm not too sure how many countries have basketball as their top sport. Oh and my P.E. teacher in High School means I tend to irrationally hate the game, that and hockey.

Oh and Pele was just a bit awesome, was physically strong could play as an old-fashioned centre-forward but had the skill and pace to play anywhere forward. Two great feet, brilliant passing game, surreal vision. Was the undisputed world number 1 for well over a decade, with Eusebio, Garincha, Rivelhino, Best and Charlton about, that's fairly good, I'd say.

BTW there was talk of putting cricketers in this, was against it because we all know what cricketer would get through. May be interesting to run a battle between him and the winner of this battle.

Pele. As grecian said, association football is the world's sport. To be still be regarded as the best with a consensus that borders on universal over 35 years since retiring from the highest level must count for something.

Huge win to Pele 17-5. Not much of a surprise he won but he did beat some quality opponents.
