Battle of the Sporting Heroes

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Hey, I'll admit to being a bitter Englishman, 44 years of hurt, 'n' all that.

Yet it's not the only reason I minused Diego, he did actually fail a drug test in a World Cup, and one thing that made him a hell of a player was his incredible energy levels. I think an Englishman did say after the '86 match "hw was everywhere, he must have been on something.

Which is why he shouldn't even be in a battle of heroes IMHO, and why Pele is the undoubted greatest ever, in many people opinions.

Might as well nom Ben Johnson. He was really quick compared to his competitors, ya know.....

Yeah but it is fair to say that if he hadn't taken drugs he would have still been an phenomenal footballer. Makes it more stupid in a way.

Bergkamp (favorite player) and Sterling. Sterling gets the nod mostly for his commentary, I've practically grown up with his voice.

Nicklaus - his concession to Jacklin in that famous Ryder Cup match was a wonderfully sporting gesture.

In the second, a personal nightmare - Sterlo and Best up against each other. Love Georgie, but Sterlo massively under-rated by modern day RL followers who do loads over Thurston and Johns.

Will go Sterlo.

Greg Norman - born in Mount Isa.
George Best - Legend, nearly went for Snorky though.

Phelps, we were lucky to witness what he did live. Now we just have to put up with irrelevant stories in the media about him for the next 60 years.

I still think Phelps was out touched and should have got a silver in one of the events.

Was a brilliant performance nonetheless.
