The Wheel is Forever
A hero or an icon who served as an inspiration for others (cricketers as well as the general public) and will be remembered for years to come.
I think this process has just become 'vote for the better player.'
The criteria said someone you could look up to, and you have to literally look up to Ambrose but what Flower did in 2003 should at least get him more votes than he has.
I would replace near future with just future in your statement. You under rate McGrath where that is concerned. A player can be a legend and enjoy legendary status not just because of some thing like a 19 wicket haul. McGrath had great cricketing ability and cricketing ability can be reason for legendary status as well where I am concerned. Some people laughed that Bradman cannot win this battle or on those lines earlier in the thread but if you ask people who do not follow cricket even regarding one man they would associate with cricket, they would name Bradman. Bradman is easily the biggest legend cricket has seen.Either way, it's tough to imagine how McGrath would become more legendary than Laker at any point in the near future. I'd like to hear the reasoning of the pro-GM folks.
