Alright then. Let's get started.
Can you hold off until you actually define what is a legend as otherwise you're going to have people voting for who has the best record. btw, where's Merv Hughes, Max Walker, Kerry O'Keefe, Mark Waugh and Rod Marsh :@

Possible weeding out criteria:

(1) Must have a known personality over and above his cricket record (e.g. Boon & Hughes) or
(2) He made a significant impact on, or changed the way the Game is played (e.g. Gilchrist & Warne) or
(3) He continued to be involved in the game after retiring (e.g. AB and Richie Benaud)

Preliminary Round, Battle 1

We shall define a legend of cricket on the basis of the following criteria:

- An influential figure who made a significant impact on the way the game is played on the field.
- An influential figure who remained involved in and made significant contributions to the game off the field.
- A hero or an icon who served as an inspiration for others (cricketers as well as the general public) and will be remembered for years to come.
- Remember that a legend is not merely defined by cricket records, but rather by aura, impact and legacy.

This battle will close at any time with a lead of at least 10. Otherwise, it will close after 6 hours with a lead of at least 5. Otherwise, it will close after 12 hours.

1) How are the criteria that I established? I excluded records as I don't want people to vote simply on the basis of records. Is there another fair solution?

2) aussietragic - sorry mate, I've already drawn out matchups and with all due respect, those five wouldn't make it very far. :)

3) For this round, I'll close it after 6 hours if there is a lead of at least 5. Mind you, we have to get through 64 battles. Otherwise, I'll close it after 12 hours. How does that sound?
