Ooooh. Toughie. I'm too young to have seen Garner bowl at the time, but he must have been an imposing sight at the other end. He used his 6' 8" to devastating effect.
Waqar was my fav player of the early nineties. There can be few more glorious sights than his full-pitched, late reverse-swinging yorker. At times he looked genuinely unplayable. If he really is only 33 (& I have serious doubts) I think it's a tragedy he's not still bowling.
Garner took his wickets at a shade under 21, which is hugely impressive but Waqar is partly responsable for England's current success! Really: Jones the swerve cites him as the man who taught him the mysteries of reverse swing when he was the overseas pro at Glamorgan. So that's good enough for me:
