Battle of the Cricketers

Ooooh. Toughie. I'm too young to have seen Garner bowl at the time, but he must have been an imposing sight at the other end. He used his 6' 8" to devastating effect.

Waqar was my fav player of the early nineties. There can be few more glorious sights than his full-pitched, late reverse-swinging yorker. At times he looked genuinely unplayable. If he really is only 33 (& I have serious doubts) I think it's a tragedy he's not still bowling.

Garner took his wickets at a shade under 21, which is hugely impressive but Waqar is partly responsable for England's current success! Really: Jones the swerve cites him as the man who taught him the mysteries of reverse swing when he was the overseas pro at Glamorgan. So that's good enough for me: :D

Big Bird for me. When I was young my father stood me next to his pads, I looked up at them in awe, I could not believe anyone could have legs that long :D Apart from that he was a great bowler, with the best yorker I have ever seen.

Whatever it takes!!!
Garner. He was so good in that 75 world cup (or was it 79?). I think he was consistently good throughout his career, while Waqar just sorta fell off after some unbelievably successful years.

Tough one, two players with two of the most unplayable yorkers in the history of the game. I'll go with Garner though, for possessing the best all-round bowling record this side of WWII.
