ROUND OF 16 ----- ----- BATTLE SIX

A Flower (Zimbabwe) (LHB, WK)

SK Warne (Australia) (RHB, LS)

I think Flower is a v brave & admirable player. Took a principled stand at genuine risk to himself & I think (unless things dramatically improve) posterity will record him as Zimbabwe's greatest cricketing son (although I think he was actually born in SA!); a world-class bat in a mediocre team & a better than average keeper.

Warne has revitalised the leg-spinner's art &, crucially, has found the "6th" ball (ie: he doesn't automatically bowl a bad one every over) to go with his box of tricks. As he showed during our summer, he's a better btasman than his average would suggest. If he applied himself to it a bit more he could been bordering on the bowling all-rounder status.

If it were closer I'd vote Warne, but I think Flower deserves more than just the one vote so it's

Flower

for me.
