Interesting that arguably one of the finest bowling talents Australia has ever produced didnt make the list, Bruce Reid.

Also very surprised that Terry Alderman could not make the list. Not to everyones taste but a good record and a special, special swing bowler..

Well maybe because i didn't see Reid & Alderman much other than tapes but i think the pacemen that i picked, but IMO i think the paceman i picked deserve to be ahead of him since its just 64 palyers.

I would also have liked to add a wild card or 2 when we were looking for fillers. Guys that may not have the greatest recoerds but were interesing and pioneering cricketers. Someone like Jack Iverson for example.
Fair idea, i did consider Iverson but for the reason you mentioned i didn't go for him since one of the many great spinners Australia produced, but i like the idea i'll give him a go.

Anyway, its too late now and for this round, Davidson[/QUOTE]

nightprowler mate, make these final little changes swap Oldfield for Grout, Hughes for Iverson & work from there.

Grout is in for Oldfield, and Iverson in for Kim Hughes, I'm assuming you meant him.

Well then, we'll continue on with the battles, I don't see any need to restart.

Englishman
Benaud, although McDermott tends to be undervalued a bit for me because of who came along immediately after him. Fine bowler & caused us no end of grief.

Also can't believe Alderman isn't in the starting 64! Just assumed he'd be a given. Without wishing to be an annoying back-seat Battle-driver, omissions like that are why I threw open The Englishmen for nominations rather than trying to guess the best 32 myself.

Doesn't mean there weren't omissions tho, as AMZ kindly pointed out in his trenchant style. :p

Like I said. Its aussie's battle, I'm just running the thing. Whatever changes he asks me to make, I make

International Captain
Craig Mcdermott ,A great bowler of his time .. I don't know much about Benaud (sure was a great ) but I remember watching Craig bowling great out-swingers during the 1987 WC (I was only 7-8 at that time) ..Craig and Wasim were the greatest ODI bowlers of the late 80's ..
