Battle of the Ashes Moments

Yeah that Lee-Flintoff moment was certainly a brilliant one. But I get the impression Warne is fairly well-loved even among English fans, so I can see quite a few voting for him. That moment kind of epitomized around a decade and a half of Ashes contests for me...

It's going to be a great battle. My money's on Flintoff commiserating with Lee though because, while other contenders (eg Botham's 149* or Warne's Ball of the Century) might be to an extent divisive, both sets of supporters will vote for Flintoff/Lee - and rightly so. It's maybe my favourite moment in the whole of sport, and certainly my favourite photograph of all time (at least among those suitable for viewing on a family website).
I always though the picture of Kaspa down on one knee and Lee at the other end was way better

Kind of like this one

Gotta say, Lee and Kasprowicz were utterly heroic in that innings. Such guts in the face of some horrible and sustained short-pitched bowling. It's not just that they got so close, it's that they went through so much in getting so close

What a Test that was

What an over this has been from Flintoff Two key wickets. Ponting for a duck. It does not get much better than this if you are an English bowler.

Trumper's knock is one of the greatest of all time. If I could go back to one innings in history this would be it. Freddy in the other one.

Ooh, nice.

Trumper and Flintoff.

Trumper because that kind of innings was just unheard of back then. The image of him dancing down the pitch must be the longest-lasting action shot in cricket history.

And Flintoff because of... just watch the video.

(As an aside, I won't vote for anything that happened in the 1990s. And by "happened" I mean "allegedly happened".)

Trumper and Flintoff.

TBF Merv was cod ordinary at that stage of his career. Flintoff's over was a thing of wonder.

First battle: Abstain. Hussain's was one of the best innings I've ever seen, an absolutely beautiful knock. But I'm not going to vote against Trumper.

Second battle: Fred by a long way.

In the first, it's a personal thing, but Nasser. I was massively into cricket at that point, and loved Nasser.

For the second, Freddie.
