Battle of the Ashes Moments

Tough to say, because Botham's is the bigger cricketing achievement, but wasn't around for it. In the end, if we're talking about moments, then I'll have to take Edgbaston.

Imagine if they had've referred Kaspa's wicket with the UDRS!

I'll go for the Kasper dismissal because of the emotional baggage that we'd been carrying from losing to them for 16 years and where we'd have been if they'd beaten us after being outplayed for most of that match.

As someone has already said, obv Botham's 5-fer was the greater achievment. But you could see us possibly coming back from 2-1 down in 1981.

Poms all plumbing for another moment where a poor decision gets them over the line. Typical.

Tough round this tbf. Our side in 81 was ok without being tremendous by any stretch - really only Lillee, Marsh, Border and Hughes of great quality. And of course, Kaspa wasn't out so that really doesn't count either.

Guess I'll have to abstain.
He was plumb lbw earlier in the day, of course, so it should never have happened as it did :p

Edgbaston, Kasper and Harmison.

Safe to say I wouldn't be a tenth of the cricket fan I am now without it. Loved every minute of it, even if we did lose.

It's a pretty bloody good match that can boast 2 oustanding Ashes Moments within literally seconds of each other (the other being the Fred/Brett manlove which should perhaps win this whole competition)

ESPN's match of the day was Butcher's 173no at Leeds in 2001. A seriously great match-winning innings against an outstanding bowling attack on a difficult pitch, and fair play to the crims showing him a bit of respect.

Would go for Botham, but have had to listen to his commentary, for what seems millenniums, so Harmi/jones.

I'd be disgusted if the ball of the (last) century doesn't take it...

It's going to be a great battle. My money's on Flintoff commiserating with Lee though because, while other contenders (eg Botham's 149* or Warne's Ball of the Century) might be to an extent divisive, both sets of supporters will vote for Flintoff/Lee - and rightly so. It's maybe my favourite moment in the whole of sport, and certainly my favourite photograph of all time (at least among those suitable for viewing on a family website).
