Apologies, I was busy yesterday. Going to try to make the other battles a bit more brisk.

Id have Devon as the 3rd quickest Ive seen. However, I never saw Holding in his pomp.

Holding, Oval, '76 has gone down in legend and probably takes him through (Im obviously ignoring the fact that in terms of craft and skill that Holding was a different league).

Tough draw for Malcolm though. Quicker than most that were nominated.

Battle has already closed. Holding wins, naturally. Been a bit busy atm. The next battle should be up tonight.

Apologies.

Holding's effort at the Oval was stupendous, but in terms of sheer speed it was probably outdone by his over to Boycott at Bridgetown in 1981. Pretty much everyone who saw it claims they've never seen anything quicker.

On the basis the issue to be resolved is speed only then Colin Croft if nothing else on the strength of the events of a gloomy evening on 4 June 1977 when he tore into Yorkshire at approximately double the speed of the next quickest spell he ever produced for Lanky – whatever it was they had for tea that day I wish someone could give Saj Mahmood a helping or two.
If, however, we were talking about class I’d have to go for Roberts

Loved watching Croft bowl. The way he went so wide of the crease mae it all the more remarkable that he was able to 'accidently' clip that umpire in the back of the head that time.

Not that I'm suggesting Colin in any way altered his delivery stride to come into contact with the umpire
