Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

I love Sehwag more than Border, probably because he's an Indian. But it doesn't matter, because I've never been one who votes based on nationalistic bias.

So you're voting Border as your favourite cricketer because you love Sehwag more than him. That makes sense

Not criticising your vote, but just clearing up... we're not voting who was the better player. But who we like more.

Generally that will be players you 'love' more than the opponent.

Border because he was awsome. He is a very good commentator as well, better than all those morons on channel 9.

No, I voted for Border in spite of loving Sehwag more because I think there is no other reason for me to love Sehwag than the nationalistic bias (especially because aggresion is seldom a huge factor for me while judging batsmen - I would never rate Gilchrist higher than Miandad as a batsman). Hope this makes sense to you now. If not, then I'm afraid I am unable to be clearer. Don't scratch your head over it much, and move on.

Yes, but the reason for that 'love' should be important. If the only reason for that love is nationalistic bias, then we could do a headcount of CW posters, and include only players from the country that has the highest representation here, couldn't we?

Border is a good bloke, much better batsman, much more hardworking, an uncompromising captain, was much more important for his country's cricket than Sehwag has been for his country's; and there's no reason other than his nationality that I like Sehwag more (not for his square cut, no).

But clearly not everyone is voting nationalistic bias. They're voting who they like better. It often corresponds with the team you support, but not always.

Exactly, that's what I said. When it's not the only reason for loving a bloke more than the other, I'm all for voting for him. For example, I'll always vote for Sachin over Lara or Ponting because I know for sure that Sachin's nationality is not the only reason I love him more than the other two.

It still makes absolutely no sense. You can't discount biases, because biases are an integral part of favouritism. If you remove bias from it, you're really not voting for your favourites, but rather a perverted idea of what you think favouritism should be. It's like saying that I love my mum the most in all the world, but because there's blood bias involved, I'll refuse to consider her my most favourite person in the world.
