Bangladesh in South Africa

Harsh mate, he played a blinder vs the Aussies back home and in England just a few seasons back.
Seasons? Aeons ago. He does not deserve a place in the team because of performances he put in years back. FFS Bangladesh needs to think beyond Ashraful now.

You talk as if they have many better than Ashraful ?

Ashraful as captain

Tests : 337 runs in 11 tests @ 18.34. The figures are extremely terrible if you discount one good effort of his 129* against SL

ODIs: 827 runs @ 28.51 in 32 matches.

Some of the Bangladeshi batsmen who have done better than him :

Tests

Mushfiqur Rahim - 385 runs @ 21.38
Shahriar Nafees - 377 runs @ 26.35
Tamim Iqbal - 330 runs @ 23.57
Shakib Al Hasan - 316 runs @ 22
Junaid Siddique - 311 runs @ 20.73

There are 10 players who have averaged better than Ashraful during this period. (2007-)

The problem is Ashraful is their best batsman, and his batting has taken a sever hit since he has become captain.

does anyone think this sort of experience is good for the south africans? it is so ridiculous that these sort of games masquerade as international matches...

Yeah not terribly happy about it to be honest.. Yeah it's always nice to rout a team in 3 days, again, but I was looking forward to watching some cricket this weekend..

Another thing that makes me angry, is that if a bunch of jokers like Bangladesh warrant a 2 test match series in SA, then why can't my favourite minnows Namibia get a game anywhere? Either maintain the standard and keep the top 8 sacred, or let a whole load of nations in on the test scene, but Bangladesh being there on their own strikes me as being unfair..

Not worried about Steyn's form, Morkel bowled better today.. Zondeki looks horrific, and it shows how little confidance Smith has in him because he let McKenzie have a bowl before him

Tbf McKenzie only came on one over beforehand so it was probably a matter of giving Zondeki choice of ends. He's still shocking though.

Why can't Ireland play tests if Bangladesh can? We're surely the best assosciate nation at the moment and i don't fancy Bangladesh are too far ahead of us outside the subcontinent.

Or Kenya, been knocking on the door since before Bangladesh and still shut outside!

To be honest must all test nations be full members of the ICC and vice versa must all full members of the ICC be test nations?

Tamim is their best batsman IMO.
Toss-up between Tamim and Shakib I reckon, Tamim looks the more accomplished player but I think Shakib has the technique and mental fortitude that will see him become guite a good international player.

But any spinner can take wickets against the Saffas. They're woeful against spin, especially the tail.

Urban legend. They handled Vettori well when he was in SA plus they played Kumble and Singh well in India.
SA had a problem traditionally with spin, but they have solved it, with their showing in the last series in India. They are not the best players of spin, but arent the worst either.

Their tail can't play spin though. You say that nobody below Boucher in their team can handle a bat. Saffies are virtually six out - all out!

To be fair, only Morkel has a big weakness against spin. The others are equally crap against all types of bowling, Morkel looks like a number 8 against pace and a number 11 against spin.
