Bangladesh in South Africa

Lets not go that far..

Murali
Mendis
Panesar
Vettori
Harbhajan

Some names that are still ahead of him, and I can think of half a dozen more who probably are
Kerry O'Keefe rates him as the best left arm spinner in the world. Guy knows his cricket. Still he's probably not quite with those guys just yet but the fact his name has been thrown up there and he is a Bangladeshi 21 year old is pretty impressive. Good average too.

i reckon mendis has the potential to be the best spinner in the world, i'm keen to see how he goes once the shock factor is over and when he has been tested in most conditions and against most teams.

huge talent though, excellent control

is SA really playing that badly or does bangladesh deserve some credit ? i still believe bangladesh has some huge potential, but a severe lack of braincells, headed by their captain, worst thing that happened to them was whatmore leaving... icl had little effect i feel, except for nafees and the young keeper gosh

Reckon Shakib would easily be Australia's frontline spinner if he was Australian

In the last 2 years out of spinners who have taken at least 15 wickets the averages go (against top 8 teams only)
Mendis 18.38
Murali 25.89
Sehwag 28.88
Warne 28.89
Shakib al Hasan 31.76
Panesar 31.78
Harris 32.76
Vettori 33.57
Singh 33.97
Kumble 36.07
Kaneria 36.65

Quite a list of handy spinners there.

O'Keefe has not seen Varaiya.

140's.. He's not particularly good, can hold a bat.. Nothing to get very excited about at the moment..

Boucher brings up his 50 too, good fightback SA, what was required and I'd like him to ton up tbh

This is great counter attacking cricket, Ashwell even getting the reverse sweep out. Bangla boys missed a huge trick and they are now on the run.

He only has 1 FC 50 and that was on his Test debut. Minus that and he averages 8.6 in FC cricket.

Doesn't seem like much of a batsman at all.

The bottom 4 of SA have 6 FC 50's between them
OZ have 48 FC 50's and 10 100's between them.
NZ have 30 FC 50's and 4 100's
India 21 FC 50's
England 8 FC 50's
SL 31 FC 50's and 6 100's
Pak 30 FC 50's and 4 100's
WI 8 FC 50's
Bang 12 FC 50's 3 100's

SA have one crappy tail.

His not that quick anymore, bowls back of a length mid to high 130s. I prefer the Cackdeki of old who use to sling them down at 145kph, get smashed but at least he got a decent amount of swing. His scarified all that for bowling a non threatening length where he bowls too short to get any swing and unlike Ntini doesn't get any seam movement.

11 of SA's 35 fours have come off the first ball of the over. Just lets off all the pressure IMO.

Mission accomplished as far as Jamie Siddons is concerned, he merely wanted Bangladesh to outdo the test performances of New Zealand when they toured the Republic last year. :)

Bangladesh haven't bowled as well as we did yet have out batted us in this match.

Sad.

To me it looks like Bangladesh swapped their bowling around too much striving for a wicket rather than keeping the pressure on. I'd have expected Shakib to have been kept on, not took off to give the 4th+ bowlers more ineffectual overs.
