For the 47th time HE ASKED THE UMPIRES NOT TO ADD THE RUNS. The dumbest attempt at an aha that there is, this
I still remember Santner ducking the last ball bouncer and was like what’s he doing that might cost them the game in the end and that’s what happened. Don’t think that gets talked about enough. But that super over rule was stupid back then glad they changed it

I agree it was stupid. For the life of me I don't understand why the rule wasn't just 'have another super over'

But, and I can't stress this enough, it was crystal clear prior to the super over that NZ had to score 1 more than England to win and it was played out accordingly.

Nah, it does get brought up fairly frequently and too often IMO. Obviously a bad play that demonstrates Archer's danger but no different to any play and miss in practice.

for the 1st time he never asked the umpires to not add the runs it was made up **** by Anderson to paint his teammate in good light and somehow it keeps being repeated by Poms everytime despite being incorrect

here is the umpire and Stokes both denying it

But why would GIMH lie

It's a couple of links saying one thing and loads saying another. Okay, say thequint.com is the definitive source and Stokes denies it. He clearly apologised and didn't think getting the runs was right. It's a dumb analogy from dumb people. Of which there are many round here of late. You aren't even in the top 25 annoying people this Ashes series. So many bad posters have come along that you've improved by default.

I've always liked you tbh

You can't say with much confidence the ball wasn't dead though. That always is a bit of a grey area, and in this instance it was the end of the over, so I honestly have a lot of sympathy for Bairstow "wandering out" of his crease.
Bairstow's probably done that sort of thing plenty of times in the past without any consequence. So even though it was still a bit of a brainfade on his part, it was an understandable brainfade given the reasons you suggested. Having said that, it doesn't change the reality that he put himself in danger of being dismissed, and Australia capitalised on that.

Santner lost us the World Cup
If Guptill hadn't wasted our review and then Rosco hadn't been sawn off with a shocker we would've won easily (not to mention Boult standing on the boundary rope, the Guptill-Stokes deflection, and the umpires not knowing the laws). We should've won by 25 runs, but sadly didn't even get to share the trophy.

I mean it's a strange story anyway, who even thinks that "cancelling" runs is a thing that happens?

I mean, if any of these prior events change, then so to do the subsequent events. Maybe Joe Root doesn’t play his worst shot of the tournament if xyz haven’t happened.

There were a lot of small, decisive moments in that game and not all in NZ control. England got the rub of the green in the 50/50 calls and Kumar's inability to count which should see him sacked forever, so the game ended as a tie before more technicalities provided England with some charity.

However, when Stokes and Buttler are playing that well the likes of Trent Boult, normally world class in the field, need to be aware of where they are. There were mistakes from NZ that turned the game to a tie as much as the errors England made (particularly with the bat). Santner needs to run and it was weird given NZ run the last in like every jamodi.

Such is life. The war against evil continues.
