As far as I can find Vaughan has only once (Sept 04) been called for slow over rates and was fined the same as Ganguly. Can you provide details of the second offense because I think you have made a mistake.C_C said:Notice that Vaughan got fined only for his repeat offence in slow overrates while Ganguly got a 6 match ban for repeat offence....same violation different ruling. Consistency ?
I think then we all have our definition muddled up....C_C said:mid-late 90s
Typical of an Indian fan to bring out the race card though..Neil Pickup said:Where did "sledging" become "racially abuse"?!
Alright then, since we are going down the road of generalisation and not addressing the points made, here we go:Typical of an Indian fan to bring out the race card though..
The West Indies were very good at it in the 70's and 80's. Ambrose in particular was a nasty piece of work.Neil Pickup said:Where did "sledging" become "racially abuse"?!

sept 04 was the second offence. First offence was May 04 vs WI.As far as I can find Vaughan has only once (Sept 04) been called for slow over rates and was fined the same as Ganguly. Can you provide details of the second offense because I think you have made a mistake.
The australian players i've talked to personally have said that the West Indians were NEVER racist in their sledgings and that is confirmed by a few Indian players i've talked to as well. The West Indies were very good at it in the 70's and 80's. Ambrose in particular was a nasty piece of work

Infact the WI have been commended by quiete a few- including gavaskar in the sledging lecture- for being the rarest and least offensive sledgers in the game by a longshot.
ok sorry i misunderstood...Swervy said:because we seem to be talking about racial comments as a part of the sledging process..Lehmann wasnt sledging..that was the point of the brackets

I dont bring that up much neither do i like to overly state that. Simply because some of the folks i have talked to are currently playing international cricket. Am sure you'd realise that it is stupid to reveal those sources.CC..who have you spoken to????
...but I bet you are dying to tell us though????C_C said:I dont bring that up much neither do i like to overly state that. Simply because some of the folks i have talked to are currently playing international cricket. Am sure you'd realise that it is stupid to reveal those sources.
The ICC have no record of Vaughan being called for slow over rates in May 04.C_C said:sept 04 was the second offence. First offence was May 04 vs WI.

You have made that one up C_C.
Where did racism come into it?Sanz said:And you say that because you have seen virtually every player ever played in the game. Haven't you ?
Please show us an example where an Indian player racially abused anyone.
