Excellent question, maybe not. Common sense would dictate that if he's replacing a batsman he can bat but not bowl, but then how do you police that? There are times in Test cricket where batsmen who rarely ever bowl, do bowl. Who's to say that Pucovski might not have bowled an over or 2 if India were 500/3 and the bowlers were tired?

i think that someone in the match thread, i think it was @Nintendo maybe, said that if an aussie bat got concussed harris was the substitute and moises was if green got a knock? might not have been nintendo but it was definitely someone, and said with authority tbh

Sure but that would be because they named them that way. There's no reason you couldn't name Henriques as the back up batsman as long as he's not going to bowl (I would hope)

I truly can't comprehend the sort of logic being used by people thinking Head needs to be dropped for being too loose, yet in the same breath seriously advocating for Marcus Harris to be recalled. Absolutely defies belief

i don't know of anyone here actually saying that they want harris picked, more than he's kind of the only actual option beyond pucovski for a reserve opener and so that's what they'll probably do.

in fairness, he would be like the sixth bowling option. if he's bowling, then either conditions are reeaaaally helpful for medium pace or -- more likely -- there are bigger problems.

I think unfortunately Head is gone for all money, no chance of being retained. But I honestly don't think Harris opening would be any sort of genuine improvement at all over what Wade has offered so far, believe there is a fair chance he would be considerably worse

yeah i definitely wouldn't drop wade for harris. as i said elsewhere, i think wade has actually been serviceable as an opener and he would probably be doing even better with actual competence at the other end.

I certainly wouldn't drop Wade for Harris, but I also loathe the idea of moving him down for Harris as well
