More grim news for Australian cricket with Marcus "Negative Impact" Harris 27 not against NSW.

I have only watched Bancroft once this season and while his technique has improved marginally, he still has the same flaws that were exposed last time around

Hopefully someone like Whiteman goes big for the rest of the season so the selectors at least have options apart from Bancroft, Harris and Renshaw

Copes is a good cricketer and has been a loyal servant for the Blues but I fail to see the logic in picking a 36yo part timer at this stage

Is the talent pool so shallow that there’s nobody worth a punt on for the future?

Farewell match?

I don't think he's played this season before this match either!

it's 100% a farewell match. why he got a contract this season is beyond me. i thought for sure either he or henriques would go last season

Yeah and now there's no real replacement for Moey when he pulls up stumps.

Surely NSW have to use the piggy bank this off-season. Need at least one top-class bat, a keeper who can actually bat and possibly also a strike bowler.

Phillippe could be a good signing on the keeper side of things if he wants more red ball cricket. His glovework has improved miles recently and I doubt he's gonna get many games for WA with inglis available.

Half of me doubts the selectors would consider it, half of me says **** yeah bring it on
If head can walk out at 3-10 on a Hobart green top vs Anderson and broad with the pink rock and slap a run a ball ton what's gonna stop him from doing the same opening in England? I think he should go back down to 5 but I'm not gonna complain if he opens either.

Wrong thread I think, was posting about Head in the Aus v Ind thread

I can definitely gaurantee Spencer Johnson won't be opening the batting for Australia in The Ashes

Johnson with 7

Realistically has another 3 innings of fc cricket left this season but if he ends up with 20 odd wickets then you can guarantee that he’s going to be playing for Australia in some form shortly

Good to see Mitch Marsh back and hitting them well.

Different formats I know but this Shield ton should be a good lead up to the upcoming JAMODIs in India, as much in the sense of time at the crease as much as anything else. For all the criticism he has recieved over the years MMarsh has been a damn good 50 over cricketer for quite a long time now

His batting form in the past few years in ODI's has been stoinis pretty shaky tbf, averaging 22 with the bat and barely bowling (only 9 game sample size where he's batted 3 a fair bit tbf).

Would rather back green given how well he's taken to ODI cricket.
