Jack Edwards coming to the party here. Really repaying the selectors' faith in him with this 40 odd not out so far.

Also, is anyone able to provide an explanation as to why every Victorian player seems to have a mullet? I know it made a bit of a comeback as a giggle, but the joke has surely worn thin now. Or is there a charity reason for it?

Why did Handscomb set a weak NSW batting side 422 off 87 overs.

Sorry, it wasn't 87 overs, that was how many had been bowled at that time. Still batted to long anyway.

Will Warner and Smith even be back in time? If so could also argue for one of the quicks.

I can't see them dropping Edwards after at least a couple of starts. It's not much but it's at least something, unlike Gilkes and Sangha.

Jack Edwards should focus on being a number 7 all rounder and bowl more instead of trying to be a top 5 batsman

Edwards is someone who I think is actually worth keeping in the side, it’s just the fact he did nothing to deserve a spot, when so many other batsmen (ward, bertus, countless others) have been scoring bucketloads of grade runs

He was always touted as a batting all rounder but didn't bowl more than a few overs a game, bowled similarly to Micky but not as quick. From what I saw yesterday he has plenty to work with if he really wants to develop his bowling.

if cricket was a remotely sensible game, pattinson would have been kicked out of the game today.

sangha's the only one that may be in trouble. NSW picks and sticks unless there's a flood of internationals that force changes (or they get bowled out for 32). it's why patterson moving down to 4 was very weird. i can only think patterson himself made that move, as otherwise it's not really a NSW thing to do. they're not going to drop gilkes after his first out and out poor game, and it would be pretty insane to do so, hearne might be a victim of last in, first out. the abbott over nevill thing at 7 is pretty obviously silly but circa 4 seasons ago they stuck with abbott at 7 the whole season when he averaged like 5, i imagine the same will happen here
