Australian Domestic Season 2020/21

I think that will help with crowds a little.

Fun fact, before the BBL I used to swing by the Gabba and catch the second session of most domestic one day games played there when I worked on that side of town. You'd get about 5k people there and it's right on the bus route for commuters.

Part of the reason people no longer go to these games is that they're played at piddly little grounds in the middle of nowhere and at odd times.

What if...

Shield was played:
3 games in September
4 games in late Feb/ early March (after international summer, before IPL)
3 games in a top end tour in May/June (after IPL) followed by the final

One day comp:
Thursdays/Saturdays in October, November and February at the major grounds. This means people can attend and watch and they don't complete with the international one day games, which run early week/ Friday/ Sunday.

BBL in December/January with games every night as it is now.

Or, run the BBL on weeknights and play the 50 over competition simultaneously on the weekends. Run the competition from November to January and make it a joint title with a final series featuring three t20 matches and one One day match worth 2 points each and 5 points respectively.

I really don't want to have to watch even more of the Renegades than I have to in a given year.

But whatever, if they make it a proper comp and not this dreadful neutered version that we've seen in the last few years. Sure.

I'd never given it too much thought but that's actually a really good idea. It might even be a way for cricket to snatch some juicy winter headlines when Australia isn't touring.

I'd run it in groups of 3 or 4 shield matches at a time. Run 3 in May, 3 in September and 4 after the BBL. The point being that the clustered matches give players the endurance testing that a test series would give. The overlap would be minimal with overseas tours as well, though might hit the tail end of the IPL.

As it is the Australian summer feels very cramped for space.
Yeah I really like this idea. Having the matches played in clusters will improve availability for guys like Maxwell as well

Congratulations to former batsman Jake Doran on another electrifying contribution to his adoptive team.

Mad dog taking the piss out of the test bowling attack minus Cummins on a deck that a batting line-up with Smith, Moises and kpat got bowled out for 160 on is very impressive.

It was mostly Starc tbf, who has taken up where he left off in the Tests. At this rate he'll be lucky to make Aus' next Test squad.

GAS, you've been watching shield cricket, can you say what Mad dog has done to improve his fc game? I see he scored 77 v a strong NSW attack just now. Just wondering what changes he's made because watching him in the bbl he still looks like the same thrasher and slicer he always was.

EDIT: to clarify. I mean the improvement over the last few seasons which seems to indicate a change in style/attitude or both. Just in case some dweeb thinks I'm talking about his last innings only.
