Feels like the end of an era, Ferguson was just starting to make his way when I started following, been keeping track of his career through the highs and lows ever since. Has given his state distinguished service over the years, hope the team can dig deep against Queensland to farewell him on a high note

I note that Shane Watson urged the selectors to to unleash Cameron Green against the Indians this summer but hopes Green can be shielded from the ruthless spotlight he experienced as a Test all-rounder. There's no doubt the Australian cricket public have been crying out for an all-rounder after watching the exploits of Richard Hadlee, Imran Khan, Kapil Dev and Ian Botham. The performances of Andrew Flintoff and Ben Stokes adds to the frustration and players such as Watson, Andrew Symonds and Mitchell Marsh have definitely come under closer scrutiny (and criticism) than have many specialist batsmen and bowlers.
