Hat tip to Ben Abbott (Dermo Sabba's brother) playing in the 1st grade T20 double header yesterday at Merrylands Oval - 115(59) vs Sydney Uni followed by 126(52) vs Bankstown.

Fair to say a decent day out. The man hits a very, very long ball.

U19 Debutant
Green is a fairly insane prospect at the moment for Australian cricket.

Averaging 40+ with the bat (76 this shield season) at FC level and is arguably one of the best u/21 quicks in the world with 28 wkts @ 21.53 and a SR of 41.3 in his first 11 or so FC games.

A long way to go yet, as he's only 20 years old, but this seems like the guy Australian selectors have been waiting at least 2 decades for...

I'm wondering if he debuts before the Indian tour next year? A full county season would be pretty interesting

Bancroft caught down the leg side again second dig. Tough times for the Bogan Heart & Soul.

Congratulations also to withering old man Shaun Marsh on a well compiled century.

On Larkin I guess the one-game too many theory paid off in the end. Wonder if it will work for Burgey's son.

It probably will, just depends if they keep giving him a go. They usually stick with their contracted players for the season.

Am more interested in how Ben "Bro of Dermo" Abbott doesn't have a BBL deal of some description tbh. He's been doing wild stuff in the first grade T20 comp for a while now.

Flicked to the SA scorecard only to be surprised it wasn't Weatherald getting a duck for a change.

I’m not entirely sure mate, but I imagine they run with their contracted blokes and if needs be their development squads first though.

He hits he ball as hard as anyone I’ve ever seen tbh. Just ****ing brutalises it.

It’s not like a bullet of any kind. More like it turns around, looks at him and says “What the **** was that?!”

Not in a test player sort of “Oooh that sounds amazing” way, more like a properly “Holy ****” kind of way.

His second ton came off 35 balls. Fastest ever recorded in Sydney first grade apparently

Frankly I'm just numb by now. Why do I spend the time and effort in actually following this rabble

That Zampa shot pretty much sums up the thinking and direction of cricket in this state in microcosm

Queensland steamrolled Tassie, SA put up a good second innings fight but fell short of declaration target set by WA. NSW and the VIcs played out an even draw despite their positions on the ladder in a game shortened by rain.

Don't know whether Bert will play the Shield game starting this weekend. Some absolutely tragic news coming through that his mum passed away in a fatal accident yesterday. Poor bloke, only 26 and has lost both parents now, within 18 months. deadset breaks my heart to think what he and his family must be going through :(
