Nice to see former Parramatta first grade skipper Greg Davidson getting the NSW Shield game. Wonder if he still drives that 80s Ferrari.

Agar bowling very nicely here. I think Australia have found their 2nd spin option in all formats

EDIT: or I should say as a back up to Lyon

An SA opening partnership has lasted a session. I think hell just froze over.
I forgot how good it felt to see my lot actually putting on good first innings runs. Sure the pitch isn't offering much, and the Tasmanian attack looks thin, too dependent on Bird, but it is still a notable improvement on normal service

Well played Weatherald. Couple of dicey moments but on the whole this is the best I've seen him bat in a while. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come

Congratulations to Jake Weatherald for bringing up his first and last first class ton of the 2019/2020 Sheffield Shield season.

I just feel sorry for Pakistan. If Smith is giving enough of a **** to grind out slow runs in a Shield game, he must be properly gearing himself up to do something next level in the test series. He usually plays semi-ODI mode in FC matches and wafts at everything.

He batted the same against Tassie a few weeks ago for his ton too after batting in cbf mode against Queensland and double-failing. I can imagine him looking back at that first game and thinking "never again".

CA second XI comp really producing this season. First Street and Green step up and now Solway is the leading run scorer for NSW this season in only his 3rd innings.

Solway's been a massive run scorer in first grade for a few years now too. Really deserved his shot. Good player.

I think he was related to the other D.Solway who dominated the Futures League but not this one.

There are definitely too many Solways at this point.
I'm pretty sure I got the two mixed up at some point. Hell even when Solway first got picked I thought there was only one, lol

I hope we get nothing but Brisbane 2017 innings this summer.

And he's had what, two weeks of T20s as an entree for this innings? The man is impeccable.

Haha yeah mixing up the D.Solways is pretty much the Goldilocks level of knowlegde for this thread.

That's a good thing for this thread ftr but they're no relation and this one is only 24. The D.Solway (Dean, as it was) who was gun bat but didn't really want to leave his comfy home in Queanbeyan unless he had a juicy contract will forever be immortalised by Brockley's shilling. I didn't even really expect to NSW to pick him up but I'm surprised he didn't get a Tassie or SACA offer. Maybe he did and turned it down?
