True. Can at least understand Siddle getting a run given he’s just come back from the Ashes - not easy to leave an incumbent test player out. Boland has looked like he aged 10 years in the off season.

Life and retirement come at you fast sometimes

Just glad they didn't go back to Andrew Fekete. Say what you want about Frankston's finest Scott Boland but there is no doubt he is better than Fekete who has been in his last legs for a couple of years now.

Jake Fraser-Mcgurk is an interesting selection, from what I've heard he's pretty Maxwellesqe of batting style, likes to have a swing from ball one. Definitely a talented young player but still pretty raw

Green has back soreness after last game so will apparently play as just a batsmen next game. I assume he'll bat 6 for first time (bats 6 in second XI games)

Good that they're backing him to play as a batsman. It seems obvious after his one-man show last game but it would be very easy for them to decide he's not good enough and it was just a good game

See I don't get this. Back issues can cripple batsmen just as much as bowlers. Look at Clarke.

Nah thats not true. Back injuries are worse for bowlers.

Ive had some annoying back injuries lately (prolapsed disc) so I know it can be horrible for batting too, but its definitely worse when bowling.

Btw.. I think the cricket schedule so far this summer has really catered to the womens BBL.

I understand they want the Aussie players playing this round of Shield matches, but having the Shield games start on Monday plus the A game feels silly.

Since the A game is in Perth where the last T20I was played, I thought that could have started today. Unless unfair for Pakistan?

Edit-Makes it sound like I play cricket, ha.

When did D'a'r'c'y get back into the Shield side, didn't notice that.

He's listed to open alongside Philippe, because #intent or somesuch

'Traditional' five batsmen lineup too. Has O'Keefe's batting slipped that much that he deserves to bat below both Cummins and Starc?
One of those things. If NSW were 6/100 SOK probably should bat ahead of Starc. Otherwise, its neither here nor there.

When Maddinson pulled out of the Aus A game and was replaced by Bancroft, WA called him up. He wasn't in their original squad for this game.
Ahh must have missed that.

If they do indeed open with him that is quite a bold call, but considering that hardly have any top order batsman I can kinda sorta understand it.

Bowling attack looks strange too, can't recall ever seeing a WA side with only two frontline pacers. As exciting as Green is playing him as a batsman isn't great for team balance

I'm not really sure why Larkin has moved down to five after the last game when he made that 90 odd opening and Solway tonned up at 3. Surely you just leave the top three the same, bat Smith at his preferred #4 and slide Henriques down to 5?

No it makes sense. You keep your most valuable batsman at 3, and your second best at 5 as ballast. Nick Larkin is the ballast, like a Michael Hussey.

What doesn't make sense is why Daniel Hughes can't think of a hundred as two 50s.
