Just thinking about the possibility of a NSW v Everybody game, would be intriguing. Tend to think the teams would end up something like this:

Warner
Hughes
Solway
Smith
Patterson
Henriques
Nevill
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon

up against

Burns
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Head
Wade
Green (if fit to bowl)
Carey
Neser
Pattinson
JRichardson
Swepson

NSW would likely piss it in in reality, but I still thought it was mildly interesting

I have always wondered if the Eureka stockade had have been the catalyst for a genuine Australian successor state how good some hypothetical Australia vs Former Colony of NSW matches would have been.

Good luck with that.
Sadly I suspect you are right.

Still think it's at least a year too early to contemplate picking him on batting alone. Very much of the belief that a batsman generally needs more than one good season under their belt before really being a viable option, and same with spin bowlers too. Less so for fast bowlers though.

Yeah no need to rush him. At the very least I'd have Mad Dog Maddo and K-Pat ahead for any middle order vacancies that pop up.

Lol @ the actual Australian captain not making either team.

Yeah I kinda wanted to include Mad Dog but I wanted a hypothetical extra bowling option in that team. Would certainly take him as a specialist batsman over the actual allrounders we have around domestically. Guess he could bowl some left arm profiteroles if really needed, but that's obviously not ideal

Sadly I suspect you are right.
He has such an obviously mixed action. Not quite as bad as Ian Bishop, but pretty comparable to Cummins when he started. I'd like him to be able to bowl as we could use an actual allrounder rather than Mitchell Marsh, but I can't see how he'll ever be fit to bowl for long periods without significant remedial work.

They do this in India, and they sorta kinda do it in England except "everyone else" has descended into a farce of randoms.
Yeah and they probably would make money from it India

In Aus I can't imagine it being anything other than 22 players donating their time to play a game no one cares about on a crappy club ground no one goes to and losing money in the process

The best thing about the Irani Cup is that Wasim Jaffer always plays, always makes runs, and is god-like in CPL as a result.
