That's ****ing stupid my god, bonus points should not be that huge if a factor, its ridiculous that Queensland have an extra win to vics draw and Vic still have over a 10% lead on qld.
Actually it was a no result because the MCG was unplayable. So they got a no result against the top of the table side because they couldn't prepare a pitch.

If they make the final I'll be supporting the blues, dirty as that makes me feel.

Friendly reminder that when a similar thing happened with NSW (SCG was unplayable because the bowling crease wasn't in good enough condition) the Vics got the full share of points.

Both sides should be docked ten points.

All the talk around the traps is for wholesale change here at Adelaide Oval, looks like the chequebook is well and truly being dusted off, Renshaw, Cartrwright, Harper, Gibson and a couple of other names I can't recall of the top of my head are being targeted. Also heard somebody mentioning Maxwell but that one just seems completely absurd

Zampa heading to Victoria apparently (not sure why they would want him unless CA reinstate a full domestic 50 over comp). Alex Ross and a few of the younger local batsman in Page and Dalton (who I genuinely rate fwiw) also on the outer

Frankly it's just deckchairs on the Titanic level stuff, does nothing to address some of the wider problems (questionable coaching, bloated and bureaucratic administration, a grade system where what little talent there is is spread too thin). Seen enough to know never to get my hopes up with this lot

Ehh, South Australian cricket has a long and storied history, just a shame almost all of said history was from before I was born.

So it's confirmed now that Jamie Siddons is stepping down as head coach. Probably needed to happen really. The first couple of years of his tenure went fairly well but since then the story has been a fitful and largely disappointing one. Too many players just seem to have stagnated under his watch, batting especially has not been delivering for ages now.

Not sure about succession planning, for now Blewett steps into the role in an interim capacity but likely doesn't want the job full time. Dizzy would be the dream but will almost certainly stick with his Sussex contract. Last Shield win was under a real hardarse in Bomber Hammond, that was probably what was needed at that time. Plenty of ability in that team but some discipline and direction was needed. Not sure that would be so good now as outside of 5-6 blokes the talent isn't really there

Shield Round 9 - Only one more to go

Tassie handed NSW their second defeat of the season, and the second in the last three games. Tassie have now won 2 in a row. Qld looked to be all over the Sandgropers but were unable to bowl out the WA tail in enough time to chase down the runs. Vics with another well timed declaration, were able to defeat the Croweaters and have now won 3 on the trot.

NSW well clear on top, the Vics have jumped into second, just 1.6 points ahead of the Bananabenders with Tas,WA amd SA filling the rst of the ladder.

Next round Vics play Tassie at home, the 2 form teams at the moment. Qld take on SA in Adelaide. WA and NSW play each other. A win to Vics will see them in the final but bonus points will be decisive if Qld can get a win.

Star of the round was Ellis who took 6 wickets in the first innings and 9 for the game to set up the Apple eaters win, Wakim with a 78 and Silk 67no got them home. Centuries to Street 115, while Whiteman 110 and Hardie an even 100 in the second innings denied Qld the win. For the Vics a 92 for Dean and a pair of 60's to Maddinson and a 6 wicket bag to young Sutherland,

Runs
Vic Maddinson 780, Harris 442
SA Cooper 765, Weatherald 660
WA SMarsh 724, Green 699
NSW Hughes 665, Henriques 512,
Tas Doolan 575, Webster 459
Qld Burns 515, Street 489

Maddinson now leading runscorer, been Vic best batsman by a long way this season, having only played 7 games.
Cooper second, Weatherald now 6th overall
SMarsh had a better game this time, still in third
Burns now up 8th, Street is 11th.
Hughes still 5th overall.
Doolan 7th overall

With 1 games to go it looks unlikely anyone will crack the 1000 runs this year,

Bowling

Qld Gannon 38, Neser 33
SA WAgar 33, Sayers 31.
Vic Siddle 33, Tremain 19
Tas Bird 28,Meredith 20, Bell 20
NSW Conway 25,Copeland 25
WA Kelly 27, Moody 22

Bird, Meredith and Tremain didnt play this round,

Gannon still on top
WAgar, Siddle and Neser tied for second
Conway and Copeland equal for the Bluebaggers
Kelly now 8th overall.

It is unlikely any one will take 50 wickets this year.

Stumpers (ct/st - runs@ave)

Qld Pierson 40/- 357@29.8
NSW Neville 28/3 411@37.4
Tas Paine 27/2, 313@39.1
WA Inglis 28/- 323@24.8
SA Carey 15/- 386@55.1 (4 games)
Vic Harper 16/1 245@30.6

Paine now up to third, having only played 6 games
Neilsen from SA is still behind Carey

Twirley men

O'Keefe 16@22.5, Lyon 15@37.9, Swepson 14@31.5, Holland 8@59, Labuschagne 4@26, T.Andrews 4@110, Maxwell 3@75.7,A.Zampa 3@88, A.Agar 3@136

So with the chappell hadlee series called off and the shield still not cancelled, is it fair to say international players will now be availab! e for the last round of shield and the final?

It seems to me, that the only fair thing to do, is to immediately suspend the shield season and aware the shield to the team on top of the leader

Seriously? NSW are almost certain to win with Warner, Smith, Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon and Starc returning.

Smith can't play, got banned for the rest of the shield season before the test summer for having a blue with an umpire over a caught behind decision.

it’s simply a conspiracy to forever put an asterisk next to mad dog’s title for most runs so it can’t be used as reason for test selection

Congrats NSW on a well deserved Shield title, once again eclipsing all the other wannabe, pretender States. Especially Victoria and Qld.

This is the shield season with the latest asterisk next to it in our lifetimes. Victoria only played 8 matches FFS.

We should all be grateful we didn't have to endure them playing more. They're awful to watch
