Shield Round 9 - Only one more to go
Tassie handed NSW their second defeat of the season, and the second in the last three games. Tassie have now won 2 in a row. Qld looked to be all over the Sandgropers but were unable to bowl out the WA tail in enough time to chase down the runs. Vics with another well timed declaration, were able to defeat the Croweaters and have now won 3 on the trot.
NSW well clear on top, the Vics have jumped into second, just 1.6 points ahead of the Bananabenders with Tas,WA amd SA filling the rst of the ladder.
Next round Vics play Tassie at home, the 2 form teams at the moment. Qld take on SA in Adelaide. WA and NSW play each other. A win to Vics will see them in the final but bonus points will be decisive if Qld can get a win.
Star of the round was Ellis who took 6 wickets in the first innings and 9 for the game to set up the Apple eaters win, Wakim with a 78 and Silk 67no got them home. Centuries to Street 115, while Whiteman 110 and Hardie an even 100 in the second innings denied Qld the win. For the Vics a 92 for Dean and a pair of 60's to Maddinson and a 6 wicket bag to young Sutherland,
