the last wicket stand messed things up for them. basically took a session out of the game. but for victoria, it doesn't really matter if NSW win. a NSW win or a draw are the same for Victoria, a terrible result. they need to win to stay alive so they're making sure they have enough overs.

Since NSW cut ties with Maddinson and effectively went with Larkin, Maddinson has comfortably outperformed Larkin in shield cricket and Larkin has comfortably outperformed Maddinson in BBL cricket...with Larkin's BBL performances occurring with a non-NSW BBL team. Really good result for NSW!

Happens all the time with spinners. He'll be dropped within a season once the batsmen figure him out. Still a prospect.

In other news, Pope got butchered by the English. Doggett's 4-60 in a team total of 600+ should raise a few eyebrows though.

At 17 though? I'm not confidently predicting big things for him at this stage and it's only 1 game but it will definitely raise flags

tbf it does look like something close to the best team they could put together outside the Aus ODI squad + Shield squads. Definitely not first-class standard though and a total mismatch against what is essentially an England A side.

Was so used to seeing Maddinson suck badly in bbl I forgot he was this FC beast these days. Like its funny I've seen all the scorecards from his last two shield seasons but almost no footage... Only really watch him in bbl where he has looked like a tailender
