Is there any real justification why WA don't plat Jhye Richardson in the Shield? Surely he has more to his bowling then the non-Mackin quicks currently playing.

By the time jumping Jhye is ready NCN, Paris and Behrendorff could be back too.
I think he got rested. Apparently has some injury problems.

Hartley has taken 543 catches and affected 17 stumpings in 128 matches.

That's 4.3 dismissals/match, which is huge for a keeper.

Cartwright really needs to sort out his front foot driving, keep seeing him get caught from aerial drives which he's got nowhere near to the pitch of on the off side.

NSW rightly about to deposit first innings points against the hapless water buffaloes of Victoria.

Holland not going that well after an injury, been a bit of the case during most of his career. Hopefully he bounces back well quickly.

Beautiful day for cricket at the MCG today

Moreso for the Bluebaggers than the Vics but anyday watching cricket is a good day. 300 in a day is not too bad

Larkin and Hughes got away slowly and the only time the Vic looked in front was when Reed took a tremendous diving caught and bowled off Larkin and Boland got Hughes lbw two balls later and had them 2/17

After that it was the Ed Cowan show.

When Cameron White's first over Cowan couldn't lay bat on ball and after lunch for 3 or 4 overs White had both Patterson and Cowan playing and missing.
Patterson didn't look as good as Cowan but wasn't in a lot of trouble till he dragged one on from Christian.
Henriques hit the only 6 of the day, over long on for his second scoring shot !

Most of the day the batsmen were in control. Any time they looked to be hitting out the Vics were able to drag the run rate back

Boland was the best of the Vics, Christian and Gulbis bowled steady and defensively and kept the runs down. Holland turned one or two but couldn't keep a length to exert any pressure, Reed started well, went for 27 off 3 overs in his second spell, next spell was ok but his last even though he got Henriques out was not good. They missed Tremain badly

White bowled 10 overs or so and looked the most likely bowler to get a wicket.

The pitch was its typical straw colour, certainly didn't look like Glenelg yesterday. The ball may have had a bit f late swing they was the occasional oh and ah from the fielders indicating there may have been some. The weather wasn't conducive to swing bowling

Never thought I would see the field spread because Ed Cowan was on strike :)

Harper, the Vic keeper, looks like a Jockey he is even shorter than Travis Dean ! Marcus Harris isn't much taller either.

As a bonus, we had a listen to Bruce Springsteen sing 3 songs, as he was rehearsing next door for his show tonight. The support bands sounded alright as well.

Bailey must surely be a complete reverse Chanderpaul now, just tuned in as he got dismissed and he's looking more ridiculous than ever.
