Australian Domestic Season 2016/17

Selectors could replace half the batting lineup. I'd be surprised if Burns or Voges gets a gig next test. We may see up to three youth picks if the selectors have lost faith in Ferguson.
Dropping Burns again after 1 test just confirms that these guys are constantly batting for their spot. And we expect them to shine when they have no time to relax and play.

Ultimately I think dropping Burns would just get really confusing for everyone because it'd be replacing a replacement with a new replacement who was going to get replaced again anyway.

Burns is only there because Marsh is injured, and Marsh will be back soon. If someone came in they'd only be in for a game or two before they got dropped again for Marsh regardless of performance (Marsh has well and truly earned his place for now, weird as that seems) unless they stuck Marsh back into the middle order which would be even more confusing. And you can just imagine the misplaced outrage at something like that happening.

It's just not worth it. Cop Burns for one more game -- he's only in as an injury replacement.

Burns' problem is that he wasn't just bad last test with the bat, he was a liability in the field too. He missed a number of half chances. I like Burns, I really do but right now he desperately needs Uzi to let him bat again so he can get some time in the middle. He hasn't scored any runs since the hundred he made in round 1. He's simply out of form right now.

Waugh was saying that 100 or 150 could get you selected because there has only been 2 centuries in the last 5 tests.

Lets be honest here, there was massive pressure going into this last round that if you performed it showed you are a bit of a clutch player. You have a bit about you. What makes it better for Renshaw and Handscomb is that it isn't like they young and out of the blue, they both performed well for Aus 'A' in the winter. That is besides the types of players Cricket Australia is looking for in their batting style/ability.

Re: Burns, Voges, Ferguson - The selectors can easily say they looking for a new direction now and a new energy to build for next few years.

I agree with this.

6-509. Nine comms would be exploding over the lack of a declaration if they were on comms.

Not liking this. At this rate there'll be no wickets left for Maxy to take a bag and confirm his position as Aus Test Spinner

This must be the first time I've heard an androgynous Australian commentate on cricket at the MCG

Nice to see Warner and Smitteh getting out early so KPat can get some experience of batting in a Test match situation. Team players.

It will be so frustrating if Holland runs through NSW and gets picked over O'Keefe, or the they just stick with Lyon.

Any selection other than O'Keefe or Maxwell as spinner would be very, very disappointing.

I'd rather they go for Zampa (i know he's **** at 4 day cricket) than Lyon or Holland

Indeed. I look forward to SOK successfully defending Australia's imposing first innings total of 118.

Lyons been poor and Mennie was toothless. Which is an issue but a smaller issue than all out 85 and 150.

Then you go too far the other way.

"It's not Lyon's fault that he keeps returning figures of 1/80 and looks completely toothless, it's not fair on him to drop him because the batsmen aren't scoring enough runs"

a little common sense either way wouldn't hurt
