Ooh jeez, Justin Langer would be proud of that one.
Yeah they said this on ABC radio as well.NSW stream comms said shoulder injury for MMarsh earlier.
I must admit, I haven't seen a lot of Handscomb but what I saw of KP was that he needs improving v spinners but as young middle order bats they probably at the front of the queue and then you put in there that Handscomb captained Australia 'A' in the winter tests ? He must be held in high regard by CA. Ideally both get in the long-term. Selectors needed to have fore-sight and Ferguson selection needed to be weighed up before they selected him and now that they have , he needs to get the rest of the summer but I suppose the easy get out of jail card is that Rod Marsh has ****ed off now.Whats the bet KPat fails and Handscomb gets the nod over him?
Definitely a keeper shoot off, but I think Nevill has more to do to convince than Wade at this point, think the colour-blind anti-coward can only sabotage his own chances (as he does so often) right now.I must admit, I haven't seen a lot of Handscomb but what I saw of KP was that he needs improving v spinners but as young middle order bats they probably at the front of the queue and then you put in there that Handscomb captained Australia 'A' in the winter tests ? Do we really think there is a keeper shoot-off here ? Wade v Nevill ? **** that there isn't anyone else bar Whiteman who isn't showing his form of 2 seasons ago.
The third seamer shoot-off a bit quiet with Bird and Sayers so far.

If the selectors are worth their weight in gold and they believe they can grow into good test cricketers they need to back them now even with their flaws because lets face it, lots of batsman have flaws but still score runs. I think it's more to do with attitude and self-belief making it as an international batsman. You see so many players with good FC careers look like absolute little monkeys when batting.I'm not to sure about Patterson against spin either. Seems a bit flighty, Khawajaish maybe. However I like Handscomb's driving away from his body without moving his feet on the off side even less. Could make him very vulnerable to bowlers who can move the ball off the pitch, such as the Saffers. Patterson moves towards off more.
Good summary although with Shaun Marsh not available, I would have absolutely no hesitation in picking both. In the aus selection thread I went 3. Patterson and 5. Handscomb - I'm still trying to work out if the number should be an absolute pure bat or someone who is capable of bowling 6-8 overs per day. I went for Henriques, but if you look at his batting record in T20, ODI, Test and the fact he bats at 6 for his State, probably means it is a spot too high for him.I'm not to sure about Patterson against spin either.
