Tell them again. Especially if you get an Ambrose on an old school Perth wicket. If O'Reilly is available to the ROW, I'll take him
Ambrose walks in either way. He's not the third seamer. He's taking the new ball along with Hadlee, that much is certain.

International Coach
Regarding pant, does he have enough body of work to be a serious consideration?
As for devilliers, is he really good enough behind the stumps without it affect his batting?
The reason being that you are not really going to want to drop a chance off Bradman, or let Ponting have his chance to get his eye in and start pulling all those fast bowlers to the boundary, let alone letting Hayden start to step down the pitch and bully his way to his in Australia figures. Is this really worth risking, for maybe 10 extra runs over Knott?

More experience than Jadeja or Laker

It's a fair argument.

I went for De Villiers but Knotty is a very good shout as his keeping is a level above the likes of Pant and De Villiers.

ABD I don't recall him being anything else but good behind the stumps. Not Gilly level but quite safe. And he averaged 57 with the bat while keeper.

As for Pant, yeah 7 tests isn't a lot. I don't mind taking a chance with him tho.

But 9 tests, with basically the same amount of runs scored as Pant in 7, is?

I think Pant has also improved immeasurably behind the stumps now. He’s a fine keeper. He isn’t winning any awards for GOAT keeper only, no one’s rating him there. But if he’s more than adequate as a keeper and plays insane innings as a batsman, he’s more than worth his place in the squad.

Sure. Give him a shot. He has at least demonstrated he can take on worldclass pace.

Could pick Blundell. Much better keeper than Pant and AB, averages 46.5 as keeper, has the backfoot game to thrive on Aussie pitches, and scored a century opening at the MCG.
