The Wheel is Forever
Its called 11th place, baby
I don't really mind that. I chose my team, and I got the major players I wanted, so whatever happens, those are my picks and I'm happy with that.

I do mind Gough outbowling McGrath though.

I'd be interested in the official sim by marc.

3rd place ain't too shabby. Must admit that the batting lineup is not my lineup, I would have moved Fazal up from 11 to 9. Reckon that could have changed everything...

Great work Hobbs!

Rather unhappy that Pollock hasn't scored too many. Sehwag is due one of his usual blitzkreig type knocks as well. :D

Happy to re:sim with requested bowling lineup order.

Also happy to take requests for batting position.

Can also make the Sim H&A, where you get to be the curator of your own pitch (Pace 1-10, Movement 1-10, Spin 1-10).

Cheers.

Alternatively, now that ITC is back on my machine, you could do the official one!

I need each player to give me the following details:

Team name
Batting order
Bowling order
Ground name
Ground size (1-11)
Ground assistance for spin, medium and fast bowlers (1-11)
Pitch starting conditions (wear) (1-5 where 1 is no wear and 5 is the sort of pitch Michael Clarke would take a 6fer on)
Pitch starting bounce (1-5 where 1 is like concrete and 5 quicksand)

Up to you if you put them on here or email them to me - would like to start doing some of this over the weekend so the quicker people send me the stuff, the better!

Had to think quite a bit to come up with a pitch which will bring out the best in my team so came up with a small writeup based on the pitch. Might have to rethink this though as I have no idea how the Sim will take the conditions and skills of players into account.

Team Name: Apocalypse Now

Batting order:
Sehwag
Dempster
Hammond
Pollock
Chappell
Paynter
Russell
Larwood
Hall
Lock
Muralitharan

Bowling order:
Larwood
Hall
Hammond
Muralitharan
Lock
Sehwag

Ground Name: The Apocalypse Bridge
Ground size: 2
Ground assistance:
Spin: 10
Medium: 1
Fast: 8
Pitch starting condition: 4
Pitch starting bounce: 2

Suitability and Reasoning:
Sehwag: Anyone medium paced will be food and drink on this wicket. The size of the ground will make this a perfect turf for him. His finger spin may well come into play on this surface.

Dempster: Known to prefer the hard pitches of New Zealand and pitches with bounce and pace will suit his straight bat style of playing. Also his brilliant foot movement is said to aid him when getting to the pitch when playing spinners.

Hammond: Very defensively sound but not defensive minded, he'll play well regardless of the surface. Probably the best all time number three bat excluding the Don. Not an ideal pitch for his bowling style but his job is mainly a support role for the front liners.

Pollock: Best left hand batsman of all time according to Don Bradman, who equates him to Sobers. Known for his powerful hitting and accurate placement, the size of this ground will help him.

Chappell: Scored 621 runs at 69 against the very best from West Indies during that era. One of the best that Australia have produced over the years and is more than capable of performing on this pitch.

Paynter: Accustomed and renouned for batting through difficult and hostile circumstances so will have a pretty good measure of this pitch.

Russell: Another survivor despite tough conditions and opposition. May not score too many but he can occupy the crease better than most. His lightning quick reflexes should come into play when keeping for the spinners.

Larwood: One of the best exponents on quick and bounce ridden pitches, this pitch will help him no end and is targetted for the pace and accuracy for which he is renouned for. Be sure to walk onto the pitch wrapped in numerous layers of cotton wool.

Hall: Another pure bred fast bowler and first of them all from the West Indies. He is known for bowling long spells at great pace with the kind of grace that Holding brings. Long spells from a fast bowler of his calibre will come to the fore on a track like this.

Lock: A spin friendly pitch with a bit of bounce will make his left armers deadly and combined with Murali will be a devastating force to reckon with on this track.

Muralitharan: He can turn them on tracks that dont favour the spinners but with the amount of spin and bounce on this pitch, he will be near unstoppable. He will spearhead my spin attack.

Somerset

Cricketer Of The Year
Team name: Somerset XI
Batting order: B.Richards, Grace, Ranji, Border, Sobers, Hookes, Evans, Tayfield, Lohmann, Snow, Richardson
Bowling order: Lohmann, Richardson, Snow, Sobers (I guess just use his pace bowling as I doubt the simulation has the option for his spin bowling ability), Tayfield, Grace (6th bowler)
Ground name: Taunton II
Ground size (1-11): 1
Ground assistance for spin, medium and fast bowlers (1-11): Spin 11, Medium 1, Fast 1 (1 is brilliant for bowling right, rather than vice versa?)
Pitch starting conditions (wear): 1
Pitch starting bounce: 5

Essentially I tried to set the pitch as poorly as possible because several of my side (Grace, Ranji, Lohmann, Richardson) would actually be accustomed to playing on such (uncovered) pitches. I also believe setting the conditions to suit the quicker bowlers suits the bowling line-up of my team more so than if we'd produced roads or spinning tracks.
