Auction draft II - ODI

Whatever it takes!!!
Come on, we all are talking about opinions here. Of course, it was my opinion, not Christ's. Don't act like you didn't know that.
I said that because I am pretty sure most on this forum would rate Gilly better than Boucher as a keeper to fast bowlers...

Arrange for a 7 match sim, someone?
Talking about taking things serious...... Yeah sure you are treating this as fun..

I am up for it, as an aside... I did think it was a fun exercise but it looks like it is wrong to post some opinions that goes against someone else's here... :p

Excellent batting line up.. BOwling a little short.. Would personally play Lehmann at 3.. Didn't he bat top order for his FC side for a very long time?
Considered playing Lehmann at 3 but in ODI's he's batted there only once (probably due to Ponting taking the one drop slot I reckon). He's batted mostly at 4 and averages above 40 in that position so I reckon he would do ok. He's got an awesome FC record, but I'm not sure which position he generally batted.

Cronje on the other hand, mostly batted at 3 in ODI's and averaged over 40 there.

I did consider playing 3. Lehmann 4. Border and 5. Cronje but decided to go the other way in the end lol.

yeah.. but really good side as I said. Perhaps bowling falls down a wee bit. But really strong.

Yeah the likes of Lehmann, Border, Cronje and Tendulkar may have to help out the bowling in case Mathews and Shakib have a bad time of it. On the whole I think they can more or less manage the job. I believe Garner, Roberts and Murali will all probably bowl out their 10 overs.

yeah.. thing is, in a hypothetical tournament, given the batting line up of most sides here, they can easily take apart the 20 overs outside those 3.. Otherwise your side is amongst the best..

Oops.. forgot Ambrose while counting greats... Apolgies...
Pollock is surely the best player in my team (more valuable to the team than Bevan or Ambrose, or Jayasuriya). He's right up there with the best when it comes to bowling in ODIs; and considering his value as a power-hitter at the deck, he's a true ODI champ.

Malcolm Marshall (955 runs @ 14.92 SR - 76.64 ,157 Wkts @ 26.96 Eco - 3.53)
Terry Alderman (88 Wkts @ 23.36 Eco - 3.65)

Reserves

1)Trevor Chappell (229 runs @ 17.61 SR - 62.73 , 19 Wkts @ 28.31 Eco - 4.38)
2)Daniel Vettori (1895 runs @ 17.07 SR - 82.57 , 268 Wkts @ 31.22 Eco - 4.14)

Still confused between Qadir and Vettori ,what do you guys think?

Btw,i am pretty pleased with my team .It has excellent bowling as well as batting options and a number of them as well ,which is perfect for limited over crickets. The weakest link is perhaps Amarnath who i regard as a good ODI player too.

Also i have perhaps the strongest bench and can count on the likes of Trevor Chappell and Vettori to come in on a slower pitch as well as in case of injuries.
Will do a detailed write up if i get time.

13. Pommie Mbangwa (29 ODI, 34 Runs @ 4.85, 11 Wickets @ 103.63)

I will compile a more detailed analysis of my side later.
I will give you Vettori for Gibbs, Ganguly or Collingwood if you are interested?

It will improve your spinning options instead of Afridi and give me a batting option.

Besides, the more dibbly dobbly bowlers we face, the better:ph34r:

I said that because I am pretty sure most on this forum would rate Gilly better than Boucher as a keeper to fast bowlers...
That might be the case. Just like many here consider Miller to be a better bowler than Lindwall, or many here in CW (at least I know some) consider Gilchrist to be among the best ODI batsmen ever, or many overestimate the bowling capabilities of Sobers. Some of the greatest al-rounders are among our favorite players, and hence in our subconscious we sometimes overestimate their prowess in one function. I, too, sometimes make this mistake.

I'm in no way suggesting that there is a huge difference between Boucher's and Gilchrist's wicketkeeping ability to fast bowlers (just like Lindwall and Miller are probably comparable bowlers). Just saying that our minds are sometimes biased in these comparisons due to understandable reasons. More so in case of wicketkeeping skills where we can't use any stats for comparison.

Boucher is as good a keeper to fast bowlers as I've seen live, and yes that's definitely my opinion.

I'm at work at the moment so I will expand on this a bit more once I get home, but I think my team is really good. Explosive batting, especially in the crucial 5-8 spots and arguably the best bowling lineup. Also a terrific fielding side which is very important in ODIs and something I think a lot of other teams have overlooked.
