Indeed. Just like Flintoff, when fit, is almost always England's third seamer.
Well Flintoff is an ideal 3rd seamer really, always economical, picks up the odd wicket, can contribute with the bat, stamina could be better but still pretty good. Think he'd fit in really well in say the Pakistan attack of a few years ago, you had Akhtar and Asif up front, spin from Kaneria, Flintoff would have been almost perfect back up.

Indeed. Or as i put it not long ago, Flintoff's the perfect icing on the cake but England don't have a cake.

He sure can talk himself up.

The most telling part of that taster interview is this: "I’ve been measured at over 100mph but that was in a javelin situation, where they were measuring my arm speed and we weren’t worrying about actually landing the ball!"

I think it's a load of crap personally and he obviously hasn't been clocked in a cricketing capacity & is plucking numbers from the sky- "But right now I’m probably clocking high-90s or something like that".

BS.

I have read the interview, he definitely does not talk himself up overly.
"Well, if someone’s going to go over 100mph this year, it will be me..."

He's painting himself into a corner with that quote considering (judging by his comments in the taster) he hasn't been clocked anywhere near that speed in a cricketing capacity.

He should've played down the whole 100mph thing. Obviously that wouldn't sell as many magazines but considering he hasn't bowled a ball in anger it's a bit of a dumb thing to say.

Maybe this all just an elaborate scheme to really wind up Shoaib Akhtar.

So pretty much this guy has absolutely no idea of how fast he is or can bowl. What a joke.
Not only that, but he isn't sure he knows what a cricket ball is...

OMG, you have the video that was posted 5 pages back!??
I can't blame him for not wanting to read 35 pages. Lol

That video is hilarious. I'm hoping it's a piss-take, 99% of the stuff he is doing in training is useless when it comes to bowling.

The best way to develop is to actually bowl. It's a novel idea, but I think it'll catch on pretty soon.

Do you think javelin throwers simply throw javelins all day? Or do you think they do some strength, power and speed work first? Certain muscles and muscle groups are used in bowling, would it not be beneficial if those groups were strengthened?

If we look at the work he is doing, it seems to be quite helpful to bowling, indeed.
- Leg strength and flexibility, crticial in the run up, jump and follow through.
- Explosive shoulder strength - pretty self explanatory.
- Sprint training - run up, maybe?
- Core stability - something crucial in the bowling action and that is of importance to current international players.
- Core strength - ditto.

He's doing 120% of all trainings required to be a good bowler except for that small part called bowling.

Yeah, I get your point.
He can do everything except bowl.
