Ashes Draft

kingkallis

International Coach
Are people picking players on Ashes record or overall record? I am choosing based on the latter.
I am picking my players on the basis of their Ashes performances. If we have to pick the Englishmen and Aussies on their performance against other nations then whats the point of having an Ashes draft? Its just like another random draft with a different format.

Its just my opinion guys.

Joao and Howe-Zat with very ***y teams from my heavily biased point of view!!
Cheers!

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. Ashes performances suits me down to the ground, I've got Gower in my team.

Thanks!

God willing, it will continue. I am going to need help from the people selecting above me in the coming round. That said there are plenty of awesome players in that series.

You can pick on either. And when it comes around you can vote the same way too. Personally, I'm picking based on overall career but when the voting starts I might vote on ashes performance. After all it's all for fun.

I had hoped that either Fred or Davo would make it to my pick...seems I was rather too optomistic.

I was quite sure they would be the first two picks. Have to say I expected Trueman to be the first one though.

Davidson provides left arm variety, is a good batsman and fielder and also has one of the best records for a fast bowler over a sustained period (From when he entered his prime in 1957 - 170 wickets in 32 tests @ 19.26)

Had really hoped to nab one of those two myself. Really wanted the Yorkshire legend that is Trueman, fast bowling becoming an issue. Hard to let Barrington go, but all-rounders are hard to come by, so I'll bring in Richie Benaud as captain.

Late-night Coffee XI

1) Mark Taylor
2)
3) Ricky Ponting
4)
5) David Gower
6)
7) Richie Benaud (c)
8)
9) Derek Underwood
10)
11)

(odd numbers ftw)

Damn it! I thought for sure that the batsman would be taken first! I want Richie!!! He does have surprisingly average Ashes numbers however.

True. But I'm including him mostly as specialist captain. And for his voice.
