End of Over 15 (3 runs). popey cc: 104-0, runrate=6.93 (1st Inn: 562-1 dec)
Lead by 589 runs. (The Heath CC 77-10)
Talbot 1-0-3-0
Hemmings* 46 (45 balls)
Neville 49 (46 balls)

They're ticking along nicely. Talbot's going to get dropped if he keeps bowling this tightly though. It's just not on.

Took a wicket! It was a run out...

End of Over 23 (16 runs). popey cc: 172-1, runrate=7.48 (1st Inn: 562-1 dec)
Lead by 657 runs. (The Heath CC 77-10)
Talbot 5-0-37-0
Woodgate* 18 (13 balls)
Hemmings 77 (69 balls)

Last Wicket: Neville Run Out 62 (FOW: 144/1)

Talbot's bucking his ideas up, he got slapped in the last over. C'mon, declaration... I reckon you've got enough runs to play with mate.

Edit: This wasn't in the script

24.2 W Talbot to Woodgate
What a gem. That's pitched about a foot outside off and come back sharply through a massive gate taking the off stump with it.

Go Davey Talbot. What a ledge.

Guys, don't give up after being bowled out cheaply in the first innings -- I've hung on for the draw after being bowled out for 41 (I think -- close to that, anyway) on the first morning! In fact, that match went right down to the wire -- it could still have been any of the four results as late as tea on the final day.

My current match:

Them: 219ao
Me: 79ao :(
Them: 45/9 :)

Looks like I'll be chasing around 200 runs...hopefully, it's going to be close!

Not wanting to put a dampener on your achievements but the reason your guys are doing so well is that you're playing a bot (a side without a human manager, controlled by the computer). Players playing for bot sides are all in worthless form and are drained (so they effectively bowl a load of dross and are too tired to swing the bat when the ball is homing in on their stumps) which is why you can rack up a huge score and then bowl them out for next to nothing.

Obviously you can only beat the side that's put in front of you, but if and when you promote (which by the way you're going looks like it'll be the end of this season), you'll be in Div V, where you'll be up against generally much tougher sides.

Just wanted to prepare you for that! It's easy to get carried away in your first season when you're winning games, before coming back down to earth when you get promoted and face sides that have been playing much longer than you and have much better teams as result (see my current match). Make sure you have some good 17 year old players that you are training and that you aren't wasting any unnecessary money (ie. overpaying for average players, plugging money into your youth academy, upgrading your ground) - if you want, you could post your squad on this forum and there will be plenty of guys who have been playing for a long time who I'm sure will be happy to give you the benefit of their experience.

Result!

The players are off the field for the change of innings.

End of Over 46 (18 runs). popey cc: 326-2, runrate=7.09 (1st Inn: 562-1 dec)
Lead by 811 runs. (The Heath CC 77-10)
Talbot 9-0-69-1
Derbyshire* 54 (77 balls)
Hemmings 160 (128 balls)

Last Wicket: Woodgate b. Talbot 22 (FOW: 177/2)

Come on lads, play your cards right (or wrong) and you'll get a day off tomorrow.

Edit: Into the 7th over and no wickets yet. Grant and Gibson are being a bit limpetish, inspite of being set to very attacking. Mind you, Grant did hit a 4 from the first ball of the innings. Spinners should be on soon, they should wrap things up.

Nuts. Janes was really laying into them, being the only batsman so far to go at more than a run a ball. But he just went for a quickfire 30 off 19. Still, I'm in to the batting points and Bromby is still there.

End of Over 57 (1 runs). Beard XI: 209-3, runrate=3.67
Trail by 147 runs. (KFC Select XI 356-10)
Tynan 11-2-24-0
Bromby* 77 (166 balls)
Liebenberg 0 (4 balls)
Last Wicket: Janes b. Beckett 30 (FOW: 208/3)

Meanwhile, poor old Spitfire's players won't get out if he begs 'em. :)

6 runs for the win, still three wickets remaining...

EDIT: GET IN!

Numpty bowler appears, Sandwith knocks him for four, twice! Game over :o)

I thought I was properly dead and buried at 30/3.

See? Bowled out for 79, they hit 219, 30/3 in the second innings, an Exceptional+ bowler nailing it into the cracks...my lot just don't do it the easy way!

Nice work Withington, keeping the punters entertained. :)

All my main batsmen have gone, I'm nudging up towards parity with four wickets down. It was all a bit dull but then Ganfield and Liebenberg, hardly my leading lights, have suddenly gone berserk and scored 43 runs off the last 4.5 overs. Freaky.

End of Over 90 (9 runs). Beard XI: 322-4, runrate=3.58
Trail by 34 runs. (KFC Select XI 356-10)
Ellison 27-2-109-1

So...are you going to declare overnight, set your bowlers attacking, and try for the win?

Hadn't really thought about it, tbh. He's got more batting depth than I think I'm likely to get through, and the weather for tomorrow is supposed to be sunny which won't help. On the other hand given the rate he scored in the first innings, there's pretty much no chance of him batting, declaring and bowling me out in a day so the only thing I've got to lose really is a batting point.

Choices, choices. What d'you think?

My numpties blatantly ignored team orders and survived for 50 overs, meaning this game will go into the final day - we get no PFL respite and they get an extra day's worth of gate receipts. Fools.
