End of Over 58 (7 runs). storey CC: 220-4, runrate=3.79
Trail by 61 runs. (Saggers Mob 281-10)
Furlong 11-2-43-1
Parle* 2 (6 balls)
Marthinus 25 (50 balls)

Need a couple of wickets here.
Did awesomely to restrict them to 256 in their first innings and though we didn't start well with Elmes, fatigued and the other opener Hetherington out for a combined 3, the middle order saved the day. At 3-150 we're definitely favourites at this stage.

I declared just after lunch on 362, 40 odd behind. I figured I had the maxium points and i didn't want to other team to get any bowling points. They got two wickets, but I think you need three for a bowling point.

Put the game back in their court to see what they wanted to do. Play out for a draw or set us a target in the 2nd innings which i would back us to get if its under 6 an over.

Then Jeithoon went crazy and knocked over their former NT batsmen for 2 and then got another five wickets. Best bowling performance ever by him. I set him on very attacking to see what would happen, as i thought this game was a draw either way. So gun, all this effort training him up is paying off, with performances like this.

Code:
End of Over 15 (3 runs). the stevros army: 34-6, runrate=2.27 (1st Inn: 408-0 dec)
Lead by 80 runs. (Jaffna Jets 362-2 dec)
Jeithoon 8-4-17-5
Sanjeewa* 8 (18 balls)
Pathirana 2 (11 balls)

Last Wicket: Gall c. Clayton b. Jeithoon 0 (FOW: 30/6)
EDIT: Chasing 93 to win

Lost a wicket in the first over of the morning - Gibson gone for 49 which is a bit gutting. Caldwell has come to the crease and is looking to see out Coppinger's spell with Grant, who has moved onto 72*. At comp/resp, Caldwell is now the 2nd best batsman in my squad and made an unbeaten 63 last Friday, so I'm hoping he'll cash in if he can survive against Coppinger.

Having run through my opponent's batting lineup first time out, my lot now can't buy a wicket on a second-day dusty pitch. The oppo are now effectively 8 for no wicket with five sessions to play. There just doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the variations in these innings, sometimes.

End of Over 31 (1 runs). hambledon Old Boys: 85-0, runrate=2.74 (1st Inn: 93-10)
Lead by 8 runs. (Beard XI 170-10)
Wilde 7-0-16-0
Hayter* 37 (101 balls)
Potts 42 (87 balls)

Oop, there goes a wicket as I type. Finally.

Grant 110 (164 balls)

Last Wicket: Gibson c. Wharton b. Naysmith 49 (FOW: 122/1

Coppinger is still wicketless after 18 overs, which isn't bad considering he's a quality bowler bowling at competent batsmen. Grant and Caldwell are picking things up now - Daniell is on fatigued PFL I think, but the new feature of PFL not saying changeable doesn't seem to be working...

Amazing 2nd day there. Great comeback from Jeithoon after his first innings effort. Looking at their ratings they rested a lot of players but i'll take that.

The weather seems to make a _big_ difference in FC, even more so than pitch type.

My game has gone at one hell of a pace -- I bowled them out for 135 on the first day, then racked up 361/2 in something like 56 overs. 361! I was worried that my lot would declare before Reed got his 200 -- he was on 180 overnight -- but they finished level with my declaration total (how lucky is that?!) rather than over it, so he went back out this morning to finish the job.

I ended up declaring at 407/2, and the oppo are 52/6 in reply. Pretty much a formality, and a nice rest day for Sandwith et al.

As I think I said before, I'm really glad I'm not playing this lot at the start of the season, before they all got knackered.

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 68 (Maiden). The Heath CC: 245-1, runrate=3.60
Lead by 28 runs. (Weedon Warriors 217-10)
Coppinger 22-7-33-0
Caldwell* 64 (111 balls)
Grant 124 (198 balls)

Last Wicket: Gibson c. Wharton b. Naysmith 49 (FOW: 122/1)

An excellent session after the fall of Gibson in the first over of the day. Grant and Caldwell have maintained a RR of over 3.5 an over all morning, and we ought to reach our declaration target of 400 soon after tea, barring any dramatic collapses. Coppinger is still wicketless, bowling lots of overs and is down to lively PFL. Binns (spinner) is the only other real threat, due to him having decent PFL, and he's only been given 9 overs on a dusty wicket so far.

W Naysmith to Grant
OUT! Clean bowled, Grant misjudged that badly and it cost him.

Darn it, we see off the quality opening bowler but lose both openers to Naysmith, who isn't bad either but only has fair PFL and has been going at over 4 an over. I'd hoped Grant would go on and make a double century but it wasn't to be - out for 126 from 215 balls. Gardiner joins Caldwell, who is 78*.

...and there we go. John ends the match to finish with 10-7-3-3. I win by an innings and 196 runs, taking a full set of bonus points in the process.

More importantly, I should have all my major players back up to sublime or "whatever '9' is" fitness for Friday's tought OD match.

Good lord, another wicket! Now into the proficient batsmen, so hopefully might make a bit more progress. And another! Get in! That's the back of their lineup broken, I reckon. Good old Oleary. He'll be knackered after this though.

End of Over 78 (2 runs). hambledon Old Boys: 235-3, runrate=3.01 (1st Inn: 93-10)

Caldwell 136 (220 balls)

Last Wicket: Grant b. Naysmith 126 (FOW: 260/2)

Another good session, declaration should come soon after tea and we'll get around 30 overs to hopefully make inroads into their batting again. Don't really want to bat again, Coppinger still wicketless but still good enough to run through my side at the second time of asking.

I think I'm starting to understand how Jamee feels about Bardle:

End of Over 90 (1 runs). hambledon Old Boys: 252-9, runrate=2.80 (1st Inn: 93-10)
Lead by 175 runs. (Beard XI 170-10)
