And that's the end of the match. Jamees 999ers won by 16 runs.
Jamees 999ers 290-9
HeshamTeam 274-8

Yay! That win moves me onto 8 points. I reckon I just need to get better :p I've beaten both the teams above me, and lost to all the others :p

The great losing streak is now 9. Score-drengene 4/312 50overs defeating College Dropouts 5/302 50overs. Thats the first time my team has scored over 300 runs. Almost produced a miracle needing 12+ an over for the last 5 overs but ended up 11 runs short.

Not sure who to play as my no. 7 batsman for my league match today:

Code:
Dwayne Barrett - 24 yo, BT Rating=2,784
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, worthless form, Healthy
A steady player with abysmal leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: competent Concentration: feeble
Bowling: worthless Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: abysmal
or:

Code:
Jermain Begg - 20 yo, BT Rating=4,260
LH Batsman, LH Spin Bowler, respectable form, Healthy
A steady player with abysmal leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: abysmal Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: respectable Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: worthless
Fielding: competent
Barrett has much better career stats (500 runs @ 83 v Begg's 256 @ 26), but that's not really a good indication since most of Begg's runs were made for another team. They've both been about the same this season in the few innings they've batted in. Begg's fielding should be useful if we don't get down to no. 7, and is supposedly in much better form. Barrett scored 45* off 22 in his last proper innings though, and his secondaries and stamina are much better. Leaning towards Barrett, but if all goes well the no. 7 shouldn't make a difference.

Just listed this guy for 80k if anyone's interested:
Code:
Chris Street - 18 yo, BT Rating=3,818
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, strong form, Healthy
A cautious player with respectable leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: woeful Concentration: feeble
Bowling: competent Consistency: woeful
Fielding: feeble
Potentially a very good bowler, but doesn't fit into my plans at the moment (i.e. I don't have any nets left). Hopefully I can sell him, or my bank balance will go below 100k...

Well, the selectors caved to popular opinion and went for Mr. Begg. Should be another close match today. The team I'm up against looks good on paper, but has only won 2 from 5 so far. They've got pretty similar reporter's summary ratings to me at the moment (my fitness is still at low...), so I'll be screwed if they GFI (which they might, judging by their latest press release).

Badley back in the lineup after popping to proficient bowling - I know he doesn't deserve to play, but I couldn't resist. Pollock makes his league debut, opening the bowling with Gillespie. Playing three specialist bowlers which means we can only bat down to no. 8 instead of 9. Gillete opening the batting after his ton against Hoggy, Bridge goes down to no. 5. I'm playing away, but it's a green pitch so it shouldn't make much difference. Bizarrely, no-one has ever scored a century at their ground, and they've been around since the start of season one. Wouldn't mind another one from Cuss...

They just won the toss and sent me in; would've batted anyway.

Bloody hell, it's a good thing I didn't see the end of the match because I would've had a heart attack or something:

Another very narrow win with another late burst from Gillespie securing victory by 5 runs. Not a bad effort all up, everyone chipped in with the bat and all the bowlers bar one did well. Badley surprised me with 10-2-34-1 after going for 76 or whatever it was last week. That win keeps me at #1 with 6 from 6, Banagher Knight now outright second one match behind. Next up is a hopefully slightly less nerve-wracking friendly against PY (Boggles).

Oh, BTW, Begg turned out to be the right choice - he didn't bat, but did take two catches.

Won my match pretty easily by 3 wickets yesterday, Gillan bowled brilliantly taking 4/47 and Haughton made another fifty, making 73

Wardys 11 7/279 (Gillan 4/47, Binns 2/59)

WA 7/283 (49.2o) (Haughton 73[77], Street 68[105])

Was an easier win then the scorecard told in the end, I was always going to win, It's just that i lost late wickets when the game was already won.

Btw, Townsend up to 550k with 7 hours of bidding left - much needed income for my team

quite a satisfying result today. willets (50) and lennon (48) played key innings to help steady the ship when we were 4/53. although lennon's 48 took 109 balls, in the context of the match it was a top knock.we crash from 155/4 to 157/7 when holmes was joined by henshaw. holmes has his moments with the bat, but henshaw never. considering our predictament, i felt the end was near. but holmes batted surperbly scoring 36* off 32, and was supported superbly by henshaw (9, abysmal bat) and Ogrady (worthless bat), who scored his first runs in 8 attempts finishing 6*. this saw us through to 210/9. when they came out to bat, again i felt up against it. they had reached 114/1 after about 30 overs. seemed inevitable that they'd kick on from there. eventually though, after henshaw took key wickets, holmes ran through the tail picking up 5/30 but credit has to go to henshaw whose 2 wickets were probably the turning of the match for us. top day for whenuapai imho. next week we face a bot side

Ended up getting £561001 for Townsend, Pretty good imo for a resp/prof who was 26 with pretty bad secondaries.

Andrew Benjamin - 18 yo, BT Rating=2,158
RH Batsman, RF Bowler, respectable form, Healthy
A destructive player with feeble leadership skills and abysmal experience.

pretty happy with that

Don't know whether to train him full as a batsman or as an all-rounder

Haha, that's really weird. Never seen an all-feeble player before, even his leadership is feeble. Can't get my youth pull until tomorrow, a respectable+ batsman with mediocre+ stamina would be just perfect, that's about all I need to complete my team at the moment. I got a respectable bowler last week so I'll probably be out of luck this week though.

Nice price for Townsend as well. I'm thinking of selling Berry early next season (strong batting, competent bowling, poor secondaries), and replacing him with a trainable specialist batsman, because I don't really need Berry's bowling anymore, don't need him as captain either as Malik has better leadership (so should be captain once his bowling gets better). Hopefully should go for over 650k, and 17yo proficients can usually be picked up for 450k or so, so I could make a profit and still end up with a better batsman.
