Street's Pop might get him on the road to playing a bit more Now I have just got to find a fitness net for Coates a Fielding net for Paris and a Bowling Net for Hilpert who I bought the other day for 91 k Scaly reckons he is a bout 7 weeks from a pop to respectable bowling which will hopefully solve my spinner problems that i have been having as of late.

tbh, you should be looking out the longterm, not the short term interests of your side. to be successful takes time, and patience. simply buying a batsmen and allrounder doesn't guarantee you anything. you've got to save money and wait for the right player to become available. buying a crappy competent won't make much difference, especially if you want to be successful in the long run, save your money, and take a season or two to establish some kind of infrastructure at your club

OK thanks for that advice I will follow it and build the infrastructure at my club this year and i should be looking at maybe about having 200-250 k in the bank till the rest of the year as my ground is still at the normal size. And I think expanding would put me in more trouble than im already in but im not in that trouble that would threaten I go bankrupt just the trouble that you cant buy a decent player with as you cant spend more than 10k or something like that.

Also thanks ash for the advice.

Depends what that spinner is like. You could always change the conditions again. But yeah, I agree with Rob, Priyantha is a better choice. His stamina is 4 levels higher, and his consistency is one level higher, while there is only one level between their actual bowling.
I'll take your advice guys, but if lose, i'll be sending hired goons your way. :p

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Have a bit of a predicament involving my orders for my upcoming league match. Am playing at home, on a dusty pitch against the Wielders:
Code:
Wielders
Top Order: strong
Middle Order: feeble
Lower Order: abysmal
Seam Bowling: respectable
Spin Bowling: competent
Fielding: woeful
Despite the ratings, their bowlers have wages of, in order of bowling, 3899, 4148, 2322, 1424 (spinner), and 1651. I normally have Farmer (resp/feeble with resp stamina) open with Griffin (superb/med with comp stamina). However, for this game, which I'd really like to win, I was thinking it might be a good idea to have Griffin, who is my most important bat, as Canning isn't very fit, come in at number 3 instead of opening, so that he can hopefully avoid the opening bowlers and have a crack at the others.

I'd most likely promote Sutton (resp/comp with med stamina), or perhaps Kilkenny (prof/med with feeble stamina) to open. I'd prefer it to be Sutton, TBH, cause Kilkenny is destructive, and I like him ideally coming in around the middle or end overs on very attacking to boost the run rate, and his stamina isn't very good. My other opening batsmen include Tedstone (prof/med with resp stamina), though he's a spinning allrounder, and I'd like him to have good fitness to take advantage of the conditions and Thatcher (resp/woeful with mediocre stamina).

So what should I do, do you guys reckon? If I open with Griffin as per usual, I run the risk of losing him early to one of their openers, but if I bat him at 3, or even lower, and send in Sutton, I could just lose Sutton early and have Griffin effectively opening anyway. Discuss.

Andy,
I think you're along the right lines with what you say. Looking at the disparity between the wages of the oppo bowlers, and their comparatively low return in terms of match ratings, I'd hazard a guess that they have quite high bowling primaries, but poorer Stam/Cons.

Therefore I reckon I'd have some cannon-fodder at the top of the order, to try and soak up their opening blast while they're fresh, and keep Griffin and Canning back to attack from the middle of the innings.

So I'd go with something like:
1. Farmer (Defensive.
2. Tedstone (Defensive)
3. Sutton (Defensive)
4. Griffin (Attacking)
5. Canning (Attacking)
6. Kilkenny (V.Attacking)
7. Thatcher (Defensive)

Hopefully, even if you have to sacrifice something in RR, Farmer, Tedstone and Sutton on Defensive will have enough about them to get you to 65/70 after twenty or so - Which should be enough for Griffin, Canning and Kilkenny to launch an attack in the second half of the innings, against the weaker bowlers and the openers with hopefully reduced Stam.

I Wouldn't really consider Thatcher as an opener, A, because he doesn't really have the basic skill to see off an opening attack of that ability, (isn't he only a week or two over Resp?), B, with Woe Conc, he's not going to be able to effectively stick to the Defensive orders you assigned him, and C, With Abs Stam, either he would get out after ten or twelve overs, or he'd hit the Stam wall and bat for ever, eating up the overs which you really wanted Griffin and Co to be facing. I'd shove him at No.7 on Defensive, and try and use him as a kind'a insurance policy in case you find yourself floating snatch-up in the river! I've found that it's relatively safe to give lower middle order batsmen Defensive orders, as if they come in during the slog overs, BT seems to over-ride the defensiveness in any case.

NB, I post this with the disclaimer that this is what I'd do, don't take it as gospel!

Right, one good turn deserves another, any thoughts on my nets situation at the top of the page Andy?

Later, Trev
