tbh, you should be looking out the longterm, not the short term interests of your side. to be successful takes time, and patience. simply buying a batsmen and allrounder doesn't guarantee you anything. you've got to save money and wait for the right player to become available. buying a crappy competent won't make much difference, especially if you want to be successful in the long run, save your money, and take a season or two to establish some kind of infrastructure at your club

That was the first class subsidy that we were being given. Now that FC had started, we lost it but when it got cancelled we've been informed that we'll get it back this week or maybe next. :)

Good. I was getting worried that at this rate i might go bankrupt.

Three quite handy pops:

Sasrutha Muralitharan - 18 yo, BT Rating=10,883
LH Batsman, LH Spin Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, lively
A defensive player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless

Fielding: feeble

Prsanna Jeithoon - 17 yo, BT Rating=4,782

A defensive player with woeful leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless

Im going to give his fitness net to Kinsella who is woeful stamina and once he pops to feeble, he will get it back straight away.

I want to play him in my cup match this sunday but i don't know who to play him infront of:

Geoff Kinsella - 21 yo, BT Rating=5,437
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A cautious player with abysmal leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: respectable Consistency: mediocre

OR

Kavith Priyantha - 25 yo, BT Rating=8,190

Im changing my pitch conditions to dusty, so im thinking Priyantha might get the drop. Also how long does it take for pitch conditions to change?

Depends what that spinner is like. You could always change the conditions again. But yeah, I agree with Rob, Priyantha is a better choice. His stamina is 4 levels higher, and his consistency is one level higher, while there is only one level between their actual bowling.

U19 Vice-Captain
A pretty satisfactory week's training, (more of which anon), which did at least make up for my diabolical display in the Cup! Somehow I managed to slump to 34/5 in the first ten, before Staveley and Carey rallied to 114/5 after twenty. Then Carey went for 37, and there followed a long drawn out death, while I bravely staggered to 159 A/O in about 45.

I guess I can't really moan at 45 runs for the last four wickets, nor should I really grumble about Staveley's 80* - But Man Alive! - It was the most moronic 80* I've ever seen in my life. In RL, if you were the second, arguably first, best batsman in the side, and you were left in with a bunch of crappy tail-enders, you'd swing the bat wouldn't you? And look for the single towards the end of the over? - Not Staveley! Having dispatched it to all parts while he was in with Carey, Staveley suddenly decided to drop anchor when batting with the tail, against exactly the same bowlers! And it shouldn't have been a Stam issue, as he's Comp, might have been better if it were, as he kept taking a single off the first or second ball of the over, leaving the rabbits to try and block out 4 and 5 deliveries from Profs and Strongs! Credit where credit's due, they did as good a job as I could realistically have hoped of them: Feeb/Feeb Bewers, 0 (19), Woe/Feeb Edworthy, 0 (7) Abs/Woe Bent, 0 (12) and Abs/Abs Bridges M 6 (23) - But they were ****ing in the wind really once Staveley left them so badly exposed!

In reply my bowlers managed to squeeze the RRR quite effectively, but looked toothless, and all they really achieved in dragging the game out for another 39 overs was unnecessarily screwing their PFLs. Cash was the only successful bowler, taking 1/49 in his ten, although Bridges M's 9/4/18/0 is also worthy of a mention in dispatches.

The worst thing was that our ratings were virtually identical! In fact, if anything, mine were slightly better.

Now I know that when ratings are as close as this, that all manner of sub-levels and co-efficients can come into play, and that in actual fact their ratings might secretly be better than mine, but surely to god, when the rating's are this close, one side shouldn't get rolled over for 159 and lose by nine wickets?

BTW, Scaly, had a look at your match too, as Dragnets were my main league rivals last season, and you were well and truly shafted! I can see how Walters got runs, he always seems to, and actually you were lucky to get Donaldson as cheaply as you did, but how a Med rated middle order scored that amount of runs against a Resp Seam and Prof Spin attack is proper X-Files!

But now to happier matters. Over the closed season I flogged my all-rounder Mullins, (Med Stam, Resp/Feeb Bat, Med/Prof Bowl) for half a million, and upgraded to Steve Cash, for £832K.

Even though I guess his age is seriously against him, I bought him mainly because he's a crap-load better than Mullins, for a comparatively small amount extra. But also, I figured that with a wage of £2421, he was reasonably close to the top end of something - And so it's proved to be! Since I bought him, he's had two weeks of one batting net and one bowling net, and his bowlings popped from Prof to Strong, and his Cons has gone up to Med. To be honest with you, the bowling pop was a real bonus, the main reason I gave him some nets was because I thought that the secondaries would pop like mad on a 30yo, but now I'm wondering if he's at all close to Prof Bat?

By my calculations, his current wage, based on his ability at the start of the season, comprises of:
Basic Wage =£250
Comp Stam =£30/£80
Resp Bat =X
Resp Conc, (Must have been pretty low, as still hasn't popped after two weeks of batting nets) =Say £90/£100
Prof Bowl )V.High) =Say £1500
Feeb Cons )Pretty High) =Say £10
Med Fielding =£10/£30

Therefore X =£2421 -£1890/£1970 =£531/£451.

If my calculations are correct then he's not very close at all to Prof Bat, could be anything from Bottom to mid Resp - But if Scaly, or someone else good with BT numbers could check my maths for me, I'd be grateful. Still, I think I'll stick him on a fielding net and bump his secondaries up a bit, and hopefully that'll make him reasonably effective.

Bewers, Edworthy and Bridges M all reached Comp Stam too this week, so there's only Carey left in Fat Camp - Not that Stam is as much of a priority now they've binned off FC. And Patel had an Experience Pop to Feeb, making him pretty much the best captain around to my reckoning, at Sup/Feeb!

But now I have eight free nets, soon to be 10, I'm at a loss as to what best to do with them. If you don't mind, I'll post the potential candidates, and any suggestions of how to divvy them up would be gratefully received.

And then there's Steve Cash, (as Above), who's secondaries I think I may be able to rack at 30yo, would he be worth a fielding net for the season?

The bowling is a bit higher than the £1500, nearer £1600 (maximum would be 1650, but at 30yr old they'd only add about £35 a week for the high proficient bowling). So yea they'll be low in the other stuff there unfortunately.
